who is in the wrong lane?

Actually the markings are confusing as if you look further back up the road both lanes are marked as turn to the right?

I agree it is a bit confusing, but if you look at the road labelling (as shown in ste's last pic) - then both lanes are marked as 'A27', so there is no way the left hand lane (of the right hand two) can go anywhere other than straight on (A27 West), as people to his right are also entitled to take that same exit.

Im confused as to what your mate was doing and how he crashed? if he was in the left lane then he should have kept left and went straight on. No reason for anyone to get confused by those markings lol.

The red path is the slip road for the A27 (West-bound)

Think he means the red tarmac which is the easten road a2030

Go there with a camera, also these pictures wont help you mate if he was in the left lane and cut accross while going onto the slip road, or was he in the right going under and the left cut him up?

From the OP

my mate is the red circled one can he go round to the right or not.or can he only go left from his position?

So I think the OP's friend is clearly in the wrong here. He can only go 'left', and it sounds like he tried to go right.

If he was in the left lane and tried to turn right and hit someone then hes at fault.. From the crazy way you come across i cant figure out whats happend at all!

You wont find a more upto date sat photo of the junction!

I actually meant the unpretty red lines but thanks. Seems OP's friend was in the wrong, although - and to be fully honest - I might have gone straight ahead too. Straight arrow ahead implies round the roundabout to me. I would have preferred:

Left hand lane at the traffic light indicate left arrow (A27 west) or straight (round the roundabout).

Right lane indicates straight.

I did read it, but getting upto date photos wouldnt help his mate so

Yes I'm a bit  as to why he wants an up to date photo too :)

All it would do is make the case against his friend even clearer that he was in the wrong?!
