Who is this Ed Milliband chap?

I do thank the Trade Unions for not giving us another Tony Blair clone as Labour leader, and therefore a choice between Tory and Tory-lite at the next general election :p

Labour was borne of the Trade Union movement, if the Blairite members of the PLP don't like that they can always leave and join a different party - there's already two set up for them.
You're grateful to the trade unions for giving the Labour party a leader that was unable to command the support of the PLP or the grass roots party members? For somebody that's hoping that Labour will get over the infighting that plagued its tenure in government, that is somewhat hypocritical.

But no worries, Ed has proven so inept that he will be gone in less than two years. His incompetence, plus the fact that he has not been able to develop a significant base of support within the PLP means that he doesn't have a chance. Thank goodness for that.

He will probably get voted in you know.

People are going mad from the 'cuts' that are being made and its making the con/dems very unpopular indeed. I think infact labour topped a recent opinion poll.

Ironically itll be the con/dems that fix labour only to let them back in again.
Its like the good parent / bad parent way of raising a child

Oh, and hes a childish ponse who doesnt deserve the power.
As previously said - when are they going to admit responsibility for not only the nations pocket but also the welfare/PC state they left the place

I cant watch him without laughing, he looks like the love child of Wallace and Gromit

A repeat of 1997 does worry me. A lot. It happened then, it can happen again. I know that the shadow cabinet have no credibility, it's the drooling, knuckle-dragging, slope-foreheaded public that worry me.

love how people have resorted to personal attacks on milliband, im pretty sure cameron the condom or the amount of fun you could poke at clegg is also hilarious, but you cant have a serious argument if you resort to making fun of how the guy looks

Well you know, all the government have to do is not totally screw up the economy like they did in the '90s. All signs so far point to them not learning their lesson though, people are starting to say things like "oh - the Conservatives were just as bad as this last time too weren't they, why did I vote for them lol".

He invites that kind of criticism because there is no actual worthwhile substance. Cameron and Clegg have been in office 10 minutes, nobody has a clue how good or bad they actually are at running the country. Milliband has been in a government which screwed up, we've got a fairly good idea how crap he is at it.

He mocks Thatcherites... "we are all Thatcherites now" - direct quote from Peter Mandelson. Labour accepted it, now denouncing the politician they embraced?

The majority are aware of Labour's profligacy and the fact that Labour are the sole reason as to why the cuts are as brutal as they are now.

The majority of the public acknowledge the importance of the cuts, just not the scale and speed of them. These were the results of a recent poll which featured in the last Economist I believe.

milliband is a lot more left leaning than blair or brown, so of course the party is going to go that way, look at the people he has in his shadow cabinet. He has to criticise the government thats his job as HM's leader of the opposition, plus its so easy to drive a wedge between clegg and DC as their two parties are so different politically

The current coalition isn't working.

They've got to leave.

Do you really understand politics and economics?

The coalition hasn't yet been in government for much more than 10 months and unlike Nu Labour which took power in 1997 with the country in a very strong financial position, the Con/Libs inherited a decimated and financially bankrupt country, so how can you say that the coalition isn't working without giving them a chance to put things right?

It's going to take maybe 20 years to put right what the last government did to the country and you are saying the coalition isn't working! The financial legacy and burden brought about by Nu Labour's gratuitous overspending and irresponsible borrowing could carry over to to our grandchildren...that's longer than any 10 months!!!!!!

Although I never liked the look of him I was interested to see what kind of politician he would turn out to be. But seeing his speech in the protest on Saturday sealed my opinion that he is an utter tool (in my opinion). Came across like he was the most important person their and quoting Martin Luther King just took the ****!!
