So from this, we can deduce that drivers from AMD give better frame rates? If so, that is just crazy!

Any more info? Is this with the system in your sig?

No, I think what he is saying - and trust me I have been scratching my head!

It's a fresh Windows install, the first result is JUST with ATi drivers installed, no mobo drivers, raid controllers etc.

Looking at it again, this makes a little more sense now :)
 
Ohhh, if so, other drivers make that much of a difference? 4fps with normal drivers installed less (on minimum)... Something not adding up I would say. I am not going to reinstall Windows to disprove it though :p
 
I think I see it now

Unfortunately I want the other stuff to work on my PC so I will carry on installing the other drivers.

I don't suppose the OP could do a few runs of 3dmark Vantage to really test it.:D
 
So what OP is saying, I should play games with no sound, network, Windows updates and any other drivers for maximum performance? *Begins to uninstall everything :p*
 
This could be interesting from a benchmarking point of view. If the gains are similar to the above, an extra 10% or so from 3dmark would be welcome :D

In fairness, I know 8 Pack does not connect up to the internet when he does his LN2 benching and maybe these little boosters can help. Good point Paul.
 
hi,

glad you all sussed it out. yes it was with the pc in my sig.

clean intall of windows 7 and just the graphics drivers the benchmark and then add each driver and bench.

the thing is i dont need to install any of the drivers other than the graphics card driver for everything to work on my system.

very wierd that instaling mobo drivers lost me 8 fps average!

I noticed that too but presumed it may be down to devices on the board acting out with the cold...so maybe not! The only downside is obviously validation issues having no web connection.

May well do, see if I can snap up a cheap 64GB SSD and run a gutted version of windows to see if it improves bench scores :)
 
The top 3 scores iirc need a validation link in 3DMark before they are allowed to stand. They may help for us or top 10 but for the BIG peeps, it will still need a validation, so I can't see that being possible but a good possibility for higher scores with less effort.
