Last job ad I saw wanted MCSE as a minimum with CCNA but was only prepared to pay £18k (and that was with experience).
LOL!"Oh hai I have a CCNP, I know what a subnet mask and VLAN are! Give me £40k."
Nice example, I see what you're getting at now.To be classed as an engineer in Germany or other countries you have to be a degree qualified and normally chartered engineer, in this country however any "gas engineer" "electrical engineer" "service engineer" can call them selves that without ever going near a university.
In this country you get a lot of people complaining about this, I for one used to get annoyed with it, now I just let people get on with it as it doesn't affect anyone in your field (as an engineer) just when you meet people.
Normal scenario is
Girl - "So what do you do?"
Guy - "I'm a mechanical engineer for X Company"
Girls - "Oh so you fix cars?"
Guy - "FALCON PUNCH!"
KaHn
LOL!
"i have a ccnp and i keep your global networks up and running if this **** fails you loose millions of £s per day so you can pay me £50k annum...."
Nice example, I see what you're getting at now.![]()
I've always thought of an electrician and electrical engineer as 2 completely different roles...
Still, if I was in a job I enjoyed, I wouldn't really be too concerned about the title unless it was something embarrassing like a fluffer!![]()
Some may find it a little embarrassing to have it placed in their job title.* Engineer
