Who still running a P4?

P4 3.0C sat in an SFF machine :)

If I hadn't bothered with the move to PCI-e in 2005, I'd still be using it as nothing I use/play totally grinds it to a halt as such. Dated CPU by todays standards but just because Core 2 Duo rolls in doesn't mean it's suddenly crap at everything :)

I have an old p4 2.8 that I donated to my 6x year old parents... even they are saying it's starting to get slow. Might pawn off my current rig in search of a c2d one

Im still running these skt478's:

2 x 2.6ghz northy ht's (on 24/7 compressing, encoding etc)
1 x 2.53ghz northy (backup machine)
2 x 3.2ghz Presscott's (one for music, reason, renoise, cubase)
1 x 3ghz Celly D (hardly gets used)

cpus just don't degrade to slowness over time you know :p Its likely their OS getting cluttered or in need of a defrag ;)
I know that, but they don't fortuneately, might be an easy way to get funding for a new rig :p

A P4 user here :p excellent chips, mines a new generation Socket 775, P4 /HT 630 3.0 GHz 2Mb L2 Cache, no need to upgrade to a core2duo does everything I frow at it.

Pentium D 3.0Ghz here , suppose thats technically a p4 right ?!. Anyway lovley chip , 65Nm - no troubles with it at all. Long live the D9**

P4 Northwood 3.4GHz - Built for a mate back in 2004, replaced PSU 6 months ago all working sweet

P4 Prescott 3.0GHz - Built in 2005 still running sweet as an Office machine, just reformatted it a week ago and gave it a good dusting

P4 Northwood 2.8GHz @ 3.4GHz - My main PC back from 2003 sold to a friend for his office work, just reformatted it a week ago and gave it a good dusting and now its connected to a DELL 24", very nice office machine

P4 Northwood 2.6GHz - Made out of spare parts in 2004 and sold to a friend who uses it for his weekly internet radio broadcasts. Replaced its PSU a few months ago, still working like a champ!

All the PSU's that have blown are ANTECS, 2x NEO480 and 1x True550, although the True550 didn't blow just wouldn't boot windows anymore!

P4 2.8C (S478 Northwood, HT) 2GB DDR and a 9800 Pro (128MB). Built in Jan 04. Only thing which has been replaced in the Antec PSU (now a Hiper) which came with the Sonata case. Runs Live for Speed etc just fine. Very stable machine.

My download/NAS box is a P3 700 SK370 (Coppermine) on a 440BX, GF2 MX, 512Mb PC133, built in Jan 00. Idle power consumption is 35W and its silent (one fan in the PSU).

May upgrade in the Autumn, then again may not... :)

lol, my bad :p

A PAN is a small range network.

Quick google shows this:

sdef_definition.gif
- 1) A personal area network (PAN) is the interconnection of information technology devices within the range of an individual person, typically within a range of 10 meters. For example, a person travelling with a laptop, a personal digital assistant (PDA), and a portable printer could interconnect them without having to plug anything in, using some form of wireless technology. Typically, this kind of personal area network could also be interconnected without wires to the Internet or other networks.

Whereas a LAN is a local area network, spanning further than the personal are but still only covering a segment, the wide spaces are covered by WAN or wide area network.
