simple answer: why don't they just add a Mac Software and Mac Hardware section as we had before, then those who's interests lay with the iphone/ipod with have their section and Mac users will have theirs.

Too many forum sections then, wouldn't it?
Next thing you know, people would want a Sony section for their players and so would the Creative/Dell users. Changing the catagory into Apple is a more logical choice; and what's wrong with Apple Hardware / Software? Something about Apple you don't like, as opposed to Mac?

Just my thoughts

what is it about people on here going on about banning other people? Its only an internet forum chaps - all this acting like ten year olds trying to get other kids into trouble gets to me after a while!

Fair comment, when would it end. As for Apple Hardwre / Software your spot on that's what it is, iPhone/iPod or Mac, they're all Apple.
