Who uses 360 pad for pc?

Only very briefly. There's a script to use the motion/tilting to control the mouse on-screen, but I found it a bit difficult. I'd imagine with the sensor bar hooked up, and using the pointer instead, would work pretty well though. I still occasionally use the Wii, so the sensor bar has stayed in the front room. that, and the connection isn't right either, although the candle trick would work I guess.

Funnily enough, I might end up having to write some proper code stuff for tilt sensing with the Wii remote on PC soon, for a project.

That'd be quite fun to play with - I might do something similar /re the coding ;)

The use I'm actually thinking of is for our media server, which is hooked up to the same lcd tv as the Wii.... So using the IR for mouse control shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the info - I'm just reading some guides now to get a better idea of how it all works :)

I do.

Agreed that the d-pad is pants although Microsoft are meant to be releasing a "Special Edition" green pad with an improved d-pad this month I believe?

Even though there are better gamepads around on the PC such as Saitek - http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/ps2700.htm

Game support for 3rd party pads has become a joke and with it being soo easy to use a 360 controller in nearly all games now with them having the 360 pad profile allready configured ingame, I see no point using anything else.

The Games For Windows initiative as only reinforced this.

Also bugs me when developers dont incorporate full gamepad support into the menus too. GRID ONLY allows 360 pads to work in the menus.

I hope they make it a wireless version - I still use my PS2 pads for the dpad (and the xbox360s for analogue) but a wireless xbox360 pad with a decent dpad would be rather handy.

Id imagine that each different game will have a slightly different process to get a pad working, if it doesnt support it out of the box. Best to look on the games offical forums ect.

So far i have used mine for:

Any driving game & DmC 4

Wouldnt use it for any fps game like cod, tf2, HL becasue it would be Pants :o

Mouse and keyboard rulz :p

Xpadder is your friend as it allows any PC gamepad to be fully customised so that you can assign any keyboard or mouse function to your gamepad and edit every aspect(including dead zones!). Been using it for almost 2 years eversince I started to PC game on a 40" HDTV and can confirm it is a very useful util there are also plenty of premade profiles already created on the website plus its totally free!!

Use mine for:

Racing Games / Sports Games
Gears Of War
MAME / and other emulators such as CCS64 / SNES9x

Basically anything arcadey I'll use the pad on. It's certainly the best pad I've ever owned though!

All you really need is a Bluetooth adapter (hold down the 1 + 2 buttons on the wiimote while scanning and it'll be automatically detected and setup, no need for special drivers), and GlovePIE, which you can script to perform all sorts with. They come with a bunch of included wiimote examples, and its a piece of cake (or pie, arf) to figure out how they work. Once you do, I found it pretty easy to write my own stuff for. :)

Thanks. Makes things much easier/quicker to sort :)

I've got two or three different bluetooth dongles so hopefully one of them will be hardware-compatible.

Yeah, you should be fine. I was expecting some complicated, jury-rigged process to get it running when I first tried, but it's surprisingly painless.

And worth reiterating again that the dpad owns the 360's hard for emulators. :p

I can imagine ;)

I use ps2 pads for my dpad needs at the moment and they're damn good. It'll be interesting to compare.
