Who uses a PS3/360 Controller for which PC games?

As title, I'm interested in getting my PS3 controller set up, purely so I can play an emulator (Shadowrun from 1993!)
I've found the following, Motioninjoy list which states controller compatibility for several games, but would like your feedback and/or tips

I've used my Dual Shock 3 with Motioninjoy to play quite a few different PC games (Witcher 2, Skyrim, X3:TC) and various emulators too (PS1, PS2, SNES, GBA).

My friend uses one for Battlefield 3 on PC, I just can't see how he will even manage past 1.0 kdr

Always found FPS more enjoyable on keyboard + mice but enjoyed Deus Ex Human Revolution with Xbox controller.

Could you find out for me how your friend got BF3 running on Xbox controller, I can't get mine to work? Also above someone says bad company 2, agai. I've tried xpaddder and that still doesn't seem to work. What am i missing here?

BF3 for heli + Jets, far easier than key + mouse.

Pad for emulated games.

I use an old logitech pad, about 7 years old and is still around £25 these days, it wasn't that much when i bought it

Maybe using PC version of xbox pad?

He was crying about plug and play on his controller, I think you have to have one type off controller and you go to microsoft site and download the actual driver for the controller for PC use.

I used to have it on one off the older controllers so I'm pretty sure it's a normal controller that it works with, one with or without the battery pack and you might need the lil extension. As I said I used to do this (ages ago) just google around and you'll find it

I just plugged it in and then assigned the buttons in the game options. It is a PC version of the pad, but works perfectly fine on an XBox 360.

Driving games
Assassins creed
warhammer40k Space marine

Those sorts of games.

FPS RTS MMO i use KB/M

Mame and all other emulators.

Fifa 13 and any driving game.

I try not to play FPS unless single player games.

BF3 i use for Jets and Heli

All FPS on the traditional and best, keyboard and mouse. Use the 360 pad for Hitman Absolution, Batman, Saints Row 3 and those sorts of games.

I use a 360 wireless controller for FSX on the laptop when out and about.

None but then I have never used one before so they just feel really awkward to me.

But the girlfriend uses one for Far Cry 3 and Skyrim.

I use a 360 controller for driving games, fighting games and games like Saints Row 3 etc.

About the only games i don't use a controller for are FPS games.
