be good to see what skills we have here

I work for HP in hardware support (and some OS work ) on high end HPUX systems ( Superdomes and RP/RX 74xx/84xx servers ) also XP and EVA SAN arrays, recently I would say 60+% of my work is on XPs

Oh and I detest tape libraries :p

I'm back baby!
I'm looking at moving/re-skilling at the moment within my company. I want to move into management, I've got bored of having to re-learn my job every two years :o

I'm currently acting Team Manager/Lead Technical Services Specialist. My skills are in the Windows/Exchange Server area.

Hardware I'm Compaq/Dell/IBM based. I was ASE a long time ago.

I currently hate HP. HP Bratislava to be precise. The inability to restore backups is currently causing me no end of headaches.

Not quite enterprise but I've just been promoted to CIO of a charity with around 800 employees and 40ish servers spread over 16 locations in NSW.

Currently supporting a right miss mash of hardware but I've just changed the replacement policy to standarise hardware and os environments.

Rolling out a new vpn over the next few weeks then moving the mail system from MDaemon (why does anyone use this ****?) to exchange 2007. Fun times ahead

not an enterprise by far but i control the network for a school and the server rooms like a home away from home for me, HP DL320s mainly, one ML350, a few DL360s, and ultrium 1840 for backups, iSCSI eonstor for storage, majority of switches are HP2650s, 1800s and a 4108 with the odd 6108 dotted around

9 x DCs
2 x Exchange servers (both on 2003, migrating to 2007 soon)
2 x terminal servers for small client boxes (which are ****)
everything else running single tasks

i do a lot of tasks here that the technicians at other schools have never even gone near, so i guess i've got myself a fair old whack of experiance from this job considering its my first in IT, all the servers were only replaced last summer so i spent a lot of my time doing server related tasks to get it all setup as well as replacing all the switches

Woohoo, seems that my suggestion to create these forums worked!!! :D

Anyway, I'm working for an Outsourced IT Solutions, have been with them since September last year, I started off as a 1 month temp for helpdesk as I was in between jobs (and had just switched from a career in Mechanical Engineering to IT), they decided to take me on full time as I knew my stuff. The company is small but growing at a rapid rate, the company itself is 3 years old and we currently have 6 Server level engineers (including myself) and 2 helpdesk boffins.

Our helpdesk isn't your usual take call, log issue, pass to 2nd line style, it's 1st and 2nd line rolled into one with large emphasis on closing out all calls possible remotely. I spent 3 months time served on helpdesk as that was where I was needed, then we picked up 2 extra staff and I was released from my bonds and became a fully fledged mobile engineer.

5 months on and I've been sekonded to a Medium sized International company as the sole In-house IT. We have a fairly impressive setup here as the company heavily relies on their IT, we use Dell server hardware as the group the company is with has a 40% group discount on all hardware.

We've got 4 virtualised servers hosted via VMWare ESX server all stored on our SAN. Those 4 servers comprise the Main Fileserver, Antivirus server, Exchange server and a hosted Application server. In addition to this, we have a Citrix server, an SQL server that is used by various hosted applications, 1 additional Linux based hosted application server and a File replication server. We have all of this in one 45U Rack. On the other side of the building in a seperate fire zone we host a Disaster recovery server which will replicate the main server images incrementally every 4 hours - this is a work in progress currently.

Anyway long post, I think I'll make a seperate thread on show us your hardware! :)

I’m currently an IT Manager in a London based company.

I sat a degree course followed by courses with Microsoft, Cisco and Ultimus.
My skills are mainly in virtualisation GSX/ESX as well as network infrastructure and security, I spent a lot of time in Germany working with BPM (Business process management) applications where I learnt about modelling and streamlining business processes.

My team look after 50 finance directors and their support staff who are working part time in over 200 listed companies. I am often asked to consult in various companies on different issues from security to IT procedures and workflow.

That’s about the basics.

Been in IT for 5 years now, currently working for a large charity based in London supporting about 350 users over 10 sites.

Dell and Microsoft house (get big charity discounts from MS). 50 or so servers, although i'm trying to cut that down, and now that i've started the ball rolling with ESX we should be able to virtualize a lot more.

Done plenty of work with MS Products (MCSE+2), Cisco (CCNA), bit of Linux (wouldn't call myself an expert by any means).

Oh and I detest tape libraries :p
You should try setting one up with MS DPM, you WILL want to kill yourself.

Ah new forum :)

I'm the senior engineer for a oil and gas services company. Directly support 3 UK offices and about 10 Euro and Asian\Australian offices indirectly. Also got about 4 ships in the North Sea.

Plenty of scope in my work, day to day I work with: W2k3 Server, Exchange 2003, SQL 2000\2005, etc. Little bit of VMware, loads of Citrix, Linux HTPC clusters and just about to get a SAN implementation off the ground (Compellent, anyone used these before?) so that should be interesting.
