Story making the news today:

Eighteen birds have been beheaded, a frog speared, fish poisoned and 130 windows smashed at a Manchester park.
The vandals broke into the aviary in Wythenshawe Park between 1630 BST on Saturday and 1000 BST on Sunday.
After beheading the birds, they threw the carcasses around. They then filled a pond with fertiliser, killing the carp. They also chopped down trees.
Greater Manchester Police said they believed more than £10,000 of damage had been caused.

Personally, this story is quite shocking as it isn't too far from where I live (Sale, not Wythenshawe thankfully!) but who in their right minds would do such a thing!? I've been to that park a few times, its a great place to take the kids, see the farmyard area, fireworks on Nov 5th and so it strikes home a bit when something like that happens quite close to where you live. I know Wythenshawe is definately one of the rougher areas of Manchester, but even so, these kinds of acts are utterly deplorable and I can't envisage that anyone would ever be caught for this crime.

Another point to make is that I feel it is quite important to look after Britains parks and for the children/parents who visit this park frequently, this sort of thing must be quite distressing.
 
i saw this earlier; i really don't get what the **** is wrong with some people. no, wait actually i have an idea; natural selection isn't working properly...
 
That is just sick. There is something completely wrong with some peoples’ values in our society. Some of these people deserve much more than just a good beating or comminty service.
 
The story sounds horrible, but I can't help but be puzzled as to how they managed to catch the birds!

They will have been held in a shed/outbuilding over night no ? What it sounds like anyways.

I live in Hull and this was happening in our area around 5 years ago. I saw 2 beheaded duck carcasses and also a cat! Really wtf is wrong with these people it really does sicken me to my stomach.
