Wholesome strategy game for five year old?

Hi folks. So fast forward a few months since I created this thread and my boy is obsessed with Northgard. He is forever in the garden building pretend camps, chopping trees, pretending to be a berserker and bash his sister before becoming a healer to fix her up. He skipped over the fence the other day to tell my next door neighbour he is colonising his garden. Brilliant, imagination ad learning in complete overload, just what computer games should do.

So now I am looking for something to wean him off Northgard, can anyone recommend something similar, with the same strategic depth, but kid friendly. I was thinking one of the older Anno games?

I always played Stronghold Crusader when I was younger (there is a HD version on Steam)

You could also look into some old tycoon games, Theme Hospital, Theme Park World, Rollercoaster Tycoon etc

EDIT. Also, it's not on PC (unless you use emulators) but the Wars series would be great. (Advanced Wars, Battalion Wars)
