Who's getting G80?

A bit touch and go for a G80 there then.

11 days until release.

It should be there available to step up too.Thats leaves me just over 2 weeks for things to settle.

As long as I get it in before the 26 days I should be ok.

If not I'll sell the GX2 before they drop to much in price.

I will then use a 7600 GT as a stop gap card until price drops.

There is no way I'm keeping this GX2 and loosing hundreds on it!

That aint my style lol.

Im sure Gibbo mentioned that they'd be limited for about a month or so, but hopefully they'll settle down not long after launch and become availabe to step-up.

I'll be complaing to EVGA if the step up is not available when I can physically purchase the G80 from online etailors.

I don't care if it takes 2 months to get one.I want the option on the release.

I need to be on that list!

Im with you on this one, i have exactly the same...26 days. :(

I hope we are able to.

are the games we play really gonna look like that, i mean when your actually running around like a headless chicken shooting stuff is it gonna be that great? maybe i'm just cynical but meh

I'll be waiting for ATI to deliver some competition before even considering an upgrade. My current card tears through everything anyway. Are you made of money easy? :p :)

after basing my last 2 pc's on nvidia cards and recently building an ATi pc, i will find it hard pressed to find a reason to jump back on the nvidia bus..., my current system will last me until the new ATi card is released(and maybe the revision), then when both series are compared will i make the decision to upgrade.

Sounds to me that you have already made up your mind.

lol, far from it, i like to think myself completely unbiased towards brand, for example, my last pc had dual 7600GT's and an AMD 3500+ cpu, whereas my latest machine is Intel and ATi...
if nvidia do have the superior card and it justifies me switching my motherboard and paying the extra for the speed and quality then so be it...
but i believe in all honesty that over the last 2/3 generations of gpu's, ATi have had the edge over nvidia in the single card market...
9800XT vs 5950ultra
X850PE vs 6800ultra
X1900XT-X vs 7900GTX
its been very close every time and nvidia deserve a lot of kudos for there low power consumption in there 7 series... also the rebirth of dual pcb single slot solutions like the 7900gx2 and 7950gx2.

No offence but ,I'm sorry this post is so boring.

The fact that you conclude data based on antique cards to suggest modern day technology, is laughable.

We all know the cards that have come and gone in the past. What does this have to do with anything?

You mention:

"switching my motherboard and paying the extra for the speed and quality "

What does this mean?

trend maybe...lol i was trying to tie it in with my original post, maybe i wasnt so successful. my point is that i will wait for the competition to the G80 to appear, as recent trend indicates that ATi usually have the superior card... yes I know this means nothing for future cards, hence why i said in my original post that i will wait to see what the competiton has in store...

i apologize i didnt make myself clear... what i meant by that was, if nvidia release the better card and i chose to purchase it, i WILL want to SLi them as i play at relatively high res, so i would have to ditch my mobo as it isnt SLi compatible(without hacked drivers that is...)

Competition to the G80 will be R600.

By that time G80 will be refreshing...

8th sees the new SLI mobo's too with nice high FSB straight from the box.

To state "ATI usually have the superior card" is nonsense.

The fact is at this moment in time NV have the flagship card.

If it was ATI i would be just as interested.

Why would you want to SLI a card you know nothing about?

The G80 offers perfromance of Xfire and SLI in a single card for less money than two cards by each manufacturer.

The G80 will be like having Xfire but with a single card.So it will work with your current mobo.

By the time you want to SLI G80 another single card will be out that is just as fast.

you are probably basing that post on scores youve seen obtained using XP and a DX9 piece of software... when DX10 games come out, utilising different more demanding technologies, whose to say SLi wont be needed for high res gaming... your right not many of us know a lot about this card... i havent even seen a single review on it yet... its 3d mark score looks impressive, but until we see it perform in a real gaming environment, everything before then could just be spin and hype... so it might not offer better performance then Xfire in games and until we see a retail price, whose to say its gonna be cheaper then buying 2 cards...
