Whos got work tomorrow

W9 hours xmas eve sucks, and working 10 hours new years eve sucks! Especially when you're earning £5.88 an hour!

O well, I had from the 14th of December - 14th of January off for xmas.

I have, can't wait to get back to work, been SO bored past few days. Kind of glad that the bar wasn't ready to open for new years mind you, couldn't be bothered with working that hahah.

I got Christmas Day and New Years day off, and it's a waste of time, just another day which I could be getting be paid to work, but can't because of some legislation.

They should remove stat days and give them as floaters, next thing you know everyone will want St. Patricks day off and the 12th July as well. :(

Oh it must be awful to only have one day off after the new year. Think of all those lucky people who had to get up at 5am to go to work today and tomorrow :(

I'm actually getting fed up with these threads - bloody kids whingeing because they have to work Christmas eve or have to go to work on 2nd January.

For Christ's sake, get a grip. Some of us work in jobs which are 365 days a year - mostly jobs which contribute to your comfort, health and safety. Power stations, hospitals, fire stations, police stations, oil rigs, oil refineries, ISPs etc. etc. all have to operate 365 days a year and thousands of poor sods have to staff these places so that all of the rest of you can have your lights, PCs, cars etc all of the time. We'd be in a right state if all of these people decided to have Christmas and new year off as well - the country would grind to a halt.

Try to be a little less self centred and spare a thought for those of us who have no choice but to work at this time of year.
I'm not looking for sympathy, I knew what was involved in the job when I took it on. I haven't spent Christmas or new year with my family for the last 3 years because of my job but I don't start threads on here bemoaning the fact, I just get on with it.

/Rant over, carry on folks :)
