Whos gunner go with a Yonah? Change from AMD to Intel?

Is there any benchmarks for these cpus? Will they actually be worth buying over the AMDs if the motherboards cost more than the cpus? For £300-£350 I would be expecting a decent cpu.

I'm not bothered about switching from AMD to Intel, I just want whatever offers the best "bang for buck". If Conroe destroys the FX60 for half the price, then I'm sold. But I'd want a very good overclocking mobo with it too.

There's a thread somewhere with a link to a review comparing what will be the mid range Conroe to an overclocked FX-60 (representing the FX-62 which will be the top of the range AMD when Conroe is released). If I remember correctly the Conroe was anything upto 20% faster depending on the task and in what tests they did do was never beaten.

The top of the range Conroe's (approximately the same price of the FX-62 when it comes presumably) clock speed would be about 20% faster again.

mark2003 just a quick question, what temperature is your 740 at and what temp is it at stock (load and idle)? Also whats it like handling hi-def? (1080i etc.)

When are both the processors coming out in large numbers?

Thanks

Just to add the review was done by Intel (who also set up the amd PC). I am not doubting the benchmarks but I would wait until a less biased review comes along whenever it is released.

Thought that my self, but dont think Intel would affect the benchies that much tbh. If they would have had a system from AMD, I think that would have been tweaked, not saying the Intel one was a little bit. Who knows. But from the results produced, tweaked or not tweaked AMD fell quite abit short of the Conroe :)

i would deffinately consider yonah for 2 reasons

1 its mobile so low power
2 its out now in stock in the uk for under 200 pounds

however there are 2 things stopping me

1 im skint
2 no decent/cheap boards :(

i think if we had not seen how good dothan is i would be thinking the same thing......

As we all know dothan can beat single core amd FX clock for clock in most things and early test using yonah

2166mhz sub 29s 1m pi

i would certainly say its not impossible for the 'intel' results to be real

(edit: @ tim below.....yes but, mainly cod2 now, i just installed x-fire the other day i used all seeing eye before)

Just finished giving my Dothan set-up a bit of a spruce-up. Think I will stay with this until Conroe hits the shelves. My set-up is running well at the moment and should see me through.
I can't see Yonah desktop boards being widely available at a decent price, much before Conroe is due anyway.

Just a waiting game I guess atm. The worrying thing is though, I hope they arnt too expensive when they do arrive. Something @ £150 and under is ok I suppose, but nothing @ £200 mark like what Custom PC say.. I hope they are wrong...
