Just won over a day's wages at a quick sit and go poker tourny which I'm pretty pleased about.

This got me thinking, does anyone here make a fair amount from playing online?

I haven't been playing long (few months) and and class myself as a noob, but found it seems fairly easy to make a bit on the side, providing you don't play like a complete tool.

So, having waved my meatstick around furiously, I'm also interested to know if anyone here has won/lost big before and what your general opinion is of it all.

Maybe share some tips... :p

i use the victor chandler software thing and play for "pretend" money makes me feel good when i win  But i dont norm do to well lol its hard to grasp. Not upto playing for real ££ but i know a few people who can earn quite a bit playing online tho

Betfair here, with real money. Can make plenty of money, just takes the one idiot to ruin the whole game though.

Rotty and BrenOS also play regularly. Bren I've played a few times now.

/and lost to :@

I've been playing on and off for a month or two now just playing $2.50 SnG's. The reason I play such low value games is because I'm a student with no job and secondly the money aspect of poker isn't what attracts me. It's the game itself. I'm not bad. I put in 6 quid (lol) and turned it into 25 in one night so I just desposited my profit and have continued to play with the original 6 quid. I'm just shy of $40 atm (22 quid or something) and am really enjoying it. No-limit texas hold'em is just an amazing game, very complex when you analysis the game for what it is.

I welcome idiots who go all-in with stupid hands personally, why wouldn't you? :)
Even if you get stung by a fool going all-in with 2 7 off-suit against your AA you know you made the right play. Such an important thing to remember in poker. If that idiot played like that for eternity he'll be quite short-shacked :)

What playing style do you guys go with? I'm personally quite an aggressive player, picking up loads of little pots with aggressive play to get a nice stack advantage then really push my weight around with it. Seems to work well unless you're facing equally aggressive players or "calling stations". Anyone read the Super systems series?

I've read a little of Super System 2, personally I stick to Limit Hold'em as I'm too wussy to go for no limit :p
Just keep with safe pockets but occasionly flutter on a bluff ;)

used to win enough to pay my mortgage and a bit more each month. dont have any spare cash to use atm so dont play that often.

I play mostly cash games so you have to play differently. Im generally quiet for a while to get a feel for a table, then im agressive. my flop play is very agressive.
SNGs / tourneys - i like to sit around waiting my time, being agressive early on is tempting disaster. I used to win a lot of my money each month playing $6 turbos (6 seater), a lot of players play 6 seater tables but use normal size strategies, easy money :]

I play online at ladbrokes with real money.. Been playing a few months now. Done OK in the s&g tourneys not so well in the cash games. Also play live with mates every couple of weeks. :)

Yeah I play a lot. More for fun than playing tight to make huge amounts of profit. Doesn't worry me if I loose money along the way but have a bit of fun.

Was quite enjoying the Extreme Turbo SnG's on Prima, blinds double every 3 hands. Lot down to luck but still a laugh and easily winnable.

played a fair bit with pokerroom.com.

Good site and won about $400 over a couple of days. withdrew money and spent it on mp3 player and some cd's/dvd's etc.

Since then not reallyu played much - prefer playing face to face. 6/8 of us play a bi-monthly (ever 2 months for the thickos! :p ) tournament between us at someones house. Much more fun and it's easier to read people!!!

will get back into poker in the next few weeks me thinks as it used to net me about £200 a month to spend on cd/dvd/computers etc.

I've gotten into it recently. Don't play for real money, using online practice for the real poker nights I have where we play for £20 a head. Definetly helped to improve my game but the problem with playing in play money games is that many people don't take it serious and play large pots with little hands. Makes for an unrealistic experience.

I play on Paradise Poker.

Current winnings are about the $60 mark from a £10 deposit.

I used to play the tourney's but got fed up of being on there for hours so now I only play the Limit cash tables with $0.50/$1.00 or $1/$2 bets.

You can double up really quickly on these & you can set yourself limits.
I normally play for an hour at most 2 nights a week & I only put on the table the minimum required to play (normally $6 or $10 dollars) so I dont start throwing away all my winnings.
