Who's locking all the threads and why?

Is it a mistake? A slip of the finger (or several)?

Or perhaps a jaded mod with an axe to grind, taking revenge with one 'last hurrah'?

A tactical thread consolidation?

A forum bug?

Or just someone in a bit of a grump?

At least this thread definitely won't get locked.

The only threads I see getting locked are the ones that shouldn't have been made in the first place.

Like "what is white privilege?"

Probably because the forum has been spammed with 3000 series threads for weeks, and there are existing threads where questions can be asked without the need for yet another thread...

I welcome the thread locking to be honest, it was getting ridiculous having half of the new threads being about the same graphics card.

I don't mind the locking if there's a reason and the reason is shared, which it hasn't been as far as I know. It's only polite.

This is the exact reason. New users coming on and starting new threads asking "WhErE Is My GrApHiCs CaRd"...just read the multitude of other threads, not exactly difficult....

Most of the ones locked aren't asking anything of the sort.

Shouldn't you be off hunting for the source where AMD stated there'll be plenty of stock for the Big Navi launch?

If only there were owners threads for these 3080 and 3090 card queries, wait there are lol.

Something I have noticed about owners threads is AMD users tend to use them a lot for discussing things where as a lot of NVidia owners just keep opening new threads.

They locked that one as well...

Seems very indiscriminate. It's usually pretty obvious why threads are locked, but can't see any reason for most of these.

I don't normally encourage new threads like this, but some of these locks seem a bit iffy. Why was the 860 page AMD Navi 23 thread locked, that contained most of the Big Navi discussion. That's really weird.

Because we've moved from speculation to delivery phase.

There will be an RDNA3 thread around soon enough.
