Who's the go-to for PSU's these days?

I spent many years buying Corsair, but they seem to have lost favour with people these days.
I kept on buying them because I could re-use my really expensive cables, lol.
Are there any go-to brands or are they all much the same?

From doing a lot of specs I can say that I wouldn't want to commit to any brand because the prices are constantly changing. One week MSI will be cheap, then the next Asus, etc. If you had to buy one and only one, you'd end up paying like... £20-£50 over the going rate, depending on the offers at the time. A lot of the PSUs are the same (or nearly the same) with a different name on the side, so I'd check reviews somewhere like hwbusters.

Unless you know specifically from manufacturer/brand that cabling is same between PSUs, it's usually bad idea to use same cables between different PSUs.
For example Corsair has used like half dozen manufacturers for their PSUs and different factories often use different conenctors/cabling.
And even seemingly similarly model named PSUs have swapped insides and factories over the years.

Even actual manufacturers like Seasonic have changed cabling since first appearance of modular cables.
Though I think Seasonic has used same modular cabling for nearing ten years now.

Anyway stay away from the lowest price series and Seasonics are good and top models are some of the best available PSUs.
Though many can be found also under other brands. (like Phanteks)

Never had anything other than Cosair personally. Never had an issue with any of them
So you’ve tested how many out of the hundreds of models of PSU has made over the last few years?

You can’t vouch for every product made by Corsair so you can’t recommend them as a brand.

you could say that a lot of Corsair products have good reviews so they appear to make good products on average but cannot vouch for every single product they have ever made.

Cool?

I think they tried to expand too quickly and it's fallen flat thanks to a lot of fail-products and ranges. They lost a lot of customers and now have to claw them back.

For me, the biggest issue has always been software. They have had years and years of problems with ICUE and yet it's still a very hit and miss product. Frankly, ASUS seems to be going the same way, and there is a detectable loss of interest from enthusiasts in both brands.

Yes, I am an expert in Corsair cable types! I happen to have a lot of the really expensive braided ones, which is why I tend to want to reuse them if I can, hence the need for expertise!!. I suppose I will have to become a Seasonic cable expert next!!

I've been buying Seasonic for literally decades. I feel like I ought to replace PSUs at least every 10 years or so, but I've never had one actually fail.

Rather than make my own thread --- I need a PSU for my old PC but decided it may make more sense to upgrade my main PC. It is an AM5 7700 with a single M2. I have a 5700XT atm; but may get a highend graphics card at some point (whatever is around 350-400 second hand).

Could someone tell me what PSU to buy please? :D

My Corsair RM750x is still performing well after 8 years. If I were to replace it I would opt for either a Corsair RMx or Seasonic Focus GX.

I used to have one of those. It's still working, but unfortunately screeched like a bat when I played a game so it got replaced.

I tend to go seasonic because I know it is made by seasonic, Corsair have loads of psu but not all are good quality, depends on who made them for Corsair, I know some are made by seasonic so I would all ways find out who made them before buying a corsair. At the moment I am using a MSI 850 watt psu. Had great reviews when I was searching and to be fair is a quality psu
