I recently got my self Vista 64 and all I can say is that it was practicly unuseable tbh I think there are more programmes compatible with a basic Linux Distro the 64bit Vista, I could'nt use hardly any of my programmes with it all, I would just like to say anyone that is considering getting an oem Vista then if you are used to using many different third party applications and programmes then don't get the 64bit version.

Im using and havnt had any real program issues. Some I had to disable the driver signature thing, but i think thats a Vista thing and not x64. Only other issue is getting Codec's to work 100%, but again using Media player classic all is fine.

Im sorry to say, but I'm really loving Vista x64!

Running Ultimate x64 here and I've not had any real problems TBH. Some games required a bit of faffing about, but other than that I'm finding it great.

I used Ultimate x64 OEM and it still work great but 64-bits dont accept any unsigned software to install -- only it detect which folder to be install into x64 or x86 as you can use both 32 and 64bits in 64bits OS - it has 2 Program Folder files..

Anyway it seem good in my PC - no problems at all...

ummmm perhaps it was just me then, maybie I should try reinstalling, I can't get RealPlayer to work, Winamp also seems to have compatiblity issues and I use that everyday, I can't stream video from the BBC News 24 website which is also annoying as I check the video news on there daily before I go to work, plus lot's of other various little utils that I use like cacheman memory manager etc.

No idea why your having so many problems with applications, Ive not had a problem with any yet.
Only issue I have is no EAX support, but thats due to the changes to directsound and creative being pants.
Its a great OS, very very happy with it.

I'll need it to run my 4GB eventually, but my x86 install addresses 3GB, which is plenty for the moment.

I still keep my XP on a seperate partition, for whatever apps need it. That means I can play with Vista x64 whenever it suits me. Probably when I get time to reinstall all my games....

well im using the vista ultamate x64 for just over a week now i think it is, running smoothe tbh, havent had that many problems, even though i was expecting a fair amount, being as it was a new os, but never the less, had to use a beta drivers for my creative audigy 2 soundcard,(wich are expiring drivers i might add), never mind as long as new oens are released before they expire im not to bothered, not got the functions i owuld normaly have from creative drivers, but then its more than i expected. erm my matrix orbital lcd i put in my case in unuseable atm, and gotta admit i miss the info it displays on there, no idea when new workable drivers are going to be available, there was some talk on there forum about using drivers, i coudnt get them working, not to mention the unsigned driver prob . anyhow the apps i have used so far do work, all be it not as i expected, for one nod 32, there is a nod 64 bit program, on my system it installed in the 32 bit folder, im a buit miffed about that, but at least it sort of works, not as it did on xp, ie checked files being sent and resieved within msn messenger, and ie downloads too. but like i said at least its working somewhat, erm then theres the nvidia drivers, they seam to be slow updating there drivers, wich is the majour complaint when i owned a ati card.hmmmmz, i liek the inferace, very nice looking, nice and smooth, not had any bsods, or unstable sessions. installed very quickly about 23 mins from start to finish, i activate dit stright away since i wont be changing my motherboard for quite a while,(im still paying back this current upgrade to my wife), anyhow, bar for that running nice and smoothe, i deffinatley will not be going back to xp, btw i got a ready boost1gb certified key of ocuk, i personly think its a bit of a rippoff, although it does make web browsing a tad faster, but you can use other programs to do that.
just my £2 worth

PLEASE PLEASE can you tell me how u disabled the digital signed driver thing?

PLEASE :D

during the boot procses you press the f8 key/allow unsigned drivers to load, pain in the ass having to do that at every boot, if there is a registry hack ro something i would like to know, although it is part of the new security featruers in vista , so im afraid you have to take the good with the bad, liek me, one of the problems of being an early adopter to a new os, and btw it happens even in the linux os market to so were not alone here.

This is the only way to disable driver signing checks. You shouldn't be using it really, it's for developers to test their drivers before getting them signed with the company key for public release.

Btw i dont use it. hense why i said i cant use my matrix orbital lcd
and it is not the only way to disable it, check out google...........

I think I may have to resort to this if DLink don't release 64 bit drivers for my NIC soon. I have a piece of software whose truly awful protection mechanism locks to the MAC address of my NIC.

Works great in XP_64 but DLink don't seem in a hurry to release Vista_64 drivers.
