Whose Line is it Anyway?

Don't forget Richard Vranch at the piano! Probably plotting the answer to some complex physics question at the time.

I think the Clive Anderson run was the best, but the American take was really just as excellent - in large thanks to the double-team of Colin and Ryan. Only because of my dislilke for Carey and his instance on involving himself on the final sketch or hoedown.

It's amazing how such a simple format has never got tired, even with the same performers in the same situations (sometimes even funnier). Ah, foreign-film-dub, party-quirks, props... :D

Yup was a great show. Greg Proops always cracked me up on that show (either British or American version) - yet when he does his stand-up, he's second rate.

I saw Greg Proops do stand up in Newcastle in 1996ish I thought he was really funny, definitely seen a lot worse

It's a genius program and I've recently been recording and watching the American version on Challenge. Colin and Ryan work so well together it's unbelievable, and the other regular guy Wayne Brady has an amazing voice and is good at improv musical numbers. The Irish drinking song has to be one of the best games (similar to the British version where they have a hodown). Absolute tears of laughter. :)

To be fair to Carey i think you need to get used to his style.. to get aired in America the networks required him (as a recognised face there) to be the presenter so you can understand why he was involved.

Secondly, he's actually very good at the ho-downs.. quite a witty man who routinely puts together better verses than anyone except Colin/Ryan. The long-running digs between him and Ryan are great too!

Glad it's coming out on DVD though, one of the best TV programs aired in the last 10 years IMO.

Whose Line is it Anyway allstar team = colin mockery, mike mcshane, ryan styles and greg proops! Any time those guys were on meant lots of pairs of wet trousers! Considering I was only about 12 at the time of its golden age and it was still funny shows the genius of that show.

It was a great program and it always use to really make me laugh.

On BBC2 there is a program called Mock the Week, which I think uses parts of WLiiA. Unfortunately, it's no where near as good.

Pah, I'd like to see Tony Slattery in there just to cover the 'childish' angle. In fact, there are a ton of people I'd like to see back!

It had me in stitches so many times, though the american version sucked, I really dont rate Drew Carey and I dont find that black guy funny either

God I remember watching Whose Line when I was about 7/8, I thought it was so hilarious, that and the Fast Show used to crack me up, none of my friends watched them though so I used to usually get funny looks reciting quotes :D

I believe that Dan Patterson created both programs - he must rake it in. The only really funny bit about Mock the Week is the part you're talking about that's ripped off from WLIIA, and that Scottish bloke. He's hilarious. The bit he did about women in Scotland putting on loads of layers in winter had me in tears. 'Ooh just one more button to go, and then I'll get ma hands on that FLEECE!' :D

Steve Frost was hugely under rated as an improv and Josie Darby used to be utterly brilliant in the musical rounds. Colin and Ryan go without saying.

Caught the final 5 minutes of the Mock The Week yesterday and it made me chuckle. Caught myself thinking 'this is a bit Whose Line...' then saw Dan Patterson was the producer. Will try and watch it all next week.
