Whose oil is it?

What the heck does that mean?

It means use the search function because it's particularly useful for highlighting threads which have been asked over and over again.

WD-40?

Let's not confuse 'oil' in the sense of the North Sea (i.e petroleum) and 'an oil' (the scientific term for a viscous liquid). You can make lubricants without using petroleum.

Other oils and sources, people seem to forget that the whole oil debate is not surrounded around the electrification of cars. Where metal parts touch metal parts we will always need to lubricate those parts. Machinery requires oil, all sorts of machinery small to 'effin huge. Even if combustion methods change, the use of metal machinery will not. Even if synthetics can cover nearly all future demand, natural oil demand is likely to remain high for emerging economies, industry and legacy uses such as mineral oils for certain alloy mixes and so forth.

that's all true but it's nothing compared to the amount of petrol powered cars that need it. Over a billion cars. When 30% of them don't need it, it will be looked on differently

It's England's, until it gets spilled everywhere, destroys the Ecosystem and every Country with a North Sea coastline demands £BILLIONS in compensation when it then becomes Scotland's oil. That's how it always works right?

It's the UKs.

After independence it will be England's, unless Scotland magic up a navy to take it from us.

Which is the reality of the situation.

And should that happen, I doubt Scotland would remain independent for long after that.

I personally don't care, but when you look at the fact we've stormed off round the world and killed tens of thousands of innocent people for less, you can see what I mean.

If you're actually interested then a quick search for any one of half a dozen threads relating to Scottish independence will give you all the information (and more) that you ever wanted to know. There are a number of possible viewpoints about it but how much weight you put on any of them is up to you.
