I have noticed something peculiar about these however.

Usually I set the image quality to Quality and adaptive on.

However, when I switch adaptive on with these, the quality settings reverts back to "let the 3d application decided".

Vice versa.

Looking at the release notes, these look like they mostly deliver sli performance.

Yeah, sort of thought that, i'll leave it for now ;)

Although i have 680 Sli............

Only reason really to use these is if your running a network setup that uses domain based authentication and no firewall/NAT blocking of unsolicited connections - and if your doing that then nVidia drivers are the least of your problems.
