just me that thought Halo was a repetitive piece of console trash then?

Yep. Thought it was one of the better fps's out there, with a multiplayer that was great fun and overlooked/underrated.

always thought Halo was alittle on the pants side tbh, but then again HL1 and a couple of quake games had been out for a while by time it showed up

I quite liked Halo, but the only decent gun in the game was the pistol.

The machine gun sprayed bullets all over the screen and took ages to kill anything, and the alien guns fired too slowly so aliens just jumped out of the way. The pistol was fast, strong and really accurate, few shots to the head was all it took.

Really unbalanced, weapon-wise imo.

Loved the game on the xbox and bought it on the PC for the odd bit of fun. Its a good game and the ease of using vehicles in it was kinda unheard of at the time of its release as well. I thought the flood guys brought a nice interesting twist to it in the middle of the game when it started to drag abit and kept me happy until the end

No - not really.
Go take a read of all definitions of the word gay and then come back and post how this particular computer game is indeed gay.

The use of said word puts people in the same category as those that use M$ and Micro$oft - really rather silly.

Who gives a monkeys what the dictionary term is?
Stop nit picking you fools it is his interpretation of the word and you know exactly what he meant when he made the comment

I agree it is well gay ! ;)

Not a fan of Halo at all.

The graphics looked average at best, certainly no better than some quake3 engined games and yet performance was pretty poor (I played it on a ti4200 and 9800pro).

In terms of the gameplay, it felt like a bit of chore going along..... room-fight -> generic corridor with loading sequence -> bridge-fight -> generic corridor with loading sequence -> room-fight -> generic corridor with loading sequence etc. The Library got boring as hell (very bland environment - looked like something out of Doom2).

The vehicles did spice things up a bit but not enough to make me recommend this game. I hated the weapon system too, as it meant that after every fght I had to go round picking up all the dropped plasma weapons to figure out which one had the most ammo, which made the game drag even more.

I'm sure it's good as far as console FPS go, but I could name a dozen better ones on PC.

I'm with you. It was a consoles take on FPS', namely 3 years behind the PC equivalents. As said above, it was great for consolers but there were much better PC FPS' out at the time.

It wasn't a terribly bad game or anything I had fun playing it, it'd just been done before... and done better.

the thing is.
I remeber what halo WAS SUPPOSED TO BE.
way back when it was first designed (before MS bought the co making it) it was going to be a huge persistent world like planetside but with two sides.
pitty they changed it.

Been playing Halo on my current rig.

Great game,

Anyone who thinks otherwise is blinkered IMO.

why???

Where to start, gfx are ok, it could be a bit fun but in general the map layout wasnt great. All those underground bunkers you had to keep going into that where all identical, and then the fact that you get so far only to have to turn around and come all the way back again. It was an OK game, no way great.

As for multiplayer, i tried it several times over a few months but the servers always seemed to be full of young immature kids that had no skill and would resort to crashing their flyer into the ground in order to try and kill you. You had all the childish immature banter back and forth.

there where better single player and multiplayer games out there.

On the whole, it was worth playing through once, but i wouldnt go back to it.
