Why are monitor designers all idiots.

Here's an idea for any idiot that thinks 16:9 is a good idea for monitors:

Get a black bit of tape, and stick it across the bottom of your 16:10 monitor so it covers a inch in height.


And the whole argument about films being suited to 16:9 is stupid, 720p/1080p - it dont matter, as most films are shot in things like 2.35:1, so your'll have black bars on any monitor or TV no matter what ratio it is.

Monitors were first made 16:10 for a reason, it's the best ratio for there purpose. 16:9 is just a cheap ripoff way to save money.
If everyone just wanted to play games and watch films it might have been different, but with the vast majority of people, computers are not used for this.

But if you still want 16:9 - then theres a option thats been around for some time. They're called 1080p TV's.

Or maybe manufacturers could have a little flap that folds up in a nice matching plastic to hide the black bar.
