Why are Segways so expensive?

They had these when I visited Bermuda for tour groups, although it was only ever americans that used the damned things, they had a cool system for transporting them tho, a converted double decker london bus.

anyway they are a tiny bit faster than walking, although it might have been me trying to stay behind the 'herd' hoping that a merkin would manage to fall off

Saw someone on a Segway today actually, they drove it past the cinima I work in. Our conversation went something along the lines of "Hey cool, a Segway", closely followed by "What a **" aimed at the person riding it. Their rather strange, a Segway itself is quite a genious piece of technology, but has the odd effect of making anyone riding it look like a complete plonker. And didn't I hear somewhere that Bush fell off one a while back, which is supposidly impossible.
