Why are some people so confrontational??

I was doing my CBT last weekend, there was me (125cc), the instructer (5/600cc) and a young lad on a ped. We were driving around the streets and we came to a de-restricted road, because the ped was 50cc auto, we didn't go over 30. I can understand people getting annoyed but we did wave a lot of cars around us when i was clear.

Then this beemer comes up my **** (im at the back, then the ped and then the inst.), he then tried to rag it around us just before the top of a hill so you can't see whats coming. After he passes me a car comes over the hill, I had backed off a bit because I can see some thing like this happening. He then dives into the space I've just created, barely missing me and lad in front. Then does the same thing but this time the car on the other side of the road has to stop.

It always seems to be beemers making trouble...

Nah its not always bimmers. My mate mate overtake a learner driver on a hill around here at about 60 in a 30. He had kept it floored from pretty much the bottom and could see the top. Then on the NSL road went on to jump a bit of the road at 100!

He sits on peoples bumpers constantly but is usually past within a few seconds tbh.

Scum will always be scum, it has **** all to do with the car they drive.

Very true but they all seem to get a BMW if they can. This has unfortunately led to all BMW drivers being seen as bad drivers. It the same as young people driving Corsa's being seen as a pain.

Not sure how you can say that, its simply another myth. There are loads of idiots driving BMW's, and there are just as many driving Fords, Rovers, Volvo's, Audi's etc etc etc. Problem is, because there is a 'view' of BMW drivers, you tend to spot them more if you are so inclinded. Don't look for them, and do as many miles as I do and have, you will know that asigning a type of driver to all cars is simply stupid and has NO basis in fact.

Except for diesel drivers of course, they all have beards.

I too would like to know the same. Someone was leaning on my car a couple of days ago, and I asked nicely "Do you mind not leaning on my car, please" to which he went mental, saying how he wasn't leaning on my car, and if he has his bat on him, he's sort me out. Some messed up people out there I tell you.

Thats nothing. I had a similar situation but the woman was on the wrong side of the road. I stop, expecting her to back into the space a few yards back... which she eventually does. Unfortunately instead of parking in the space she sticks the back of her car in with her car at a 45 degree angle therefore still blocking the road. I stay back and think "well she's messed that up, she'll have to have another go" but no, she just sits there. The only way to get round would be to bump my car up the curb, not with these wheels love :p

So she just sits there and does some "what do you want me to do?" hand gesture. er... how about pull your car fully into the gap. A few seconds later and she decided to lunge her car at mine  I give in and back up the road past the 4 parked cars I had just passed and pulled into a gap (smaller than the one she didn't pull into  )

I've had an analogous situation which ended worse. On an A road, I was third in line behind an OAP up front and a middle aged guy between us in a new RX8. We are doing OAP speeds. I start a maneouver to overtake both cars and, when alongside the RX8, he pulls out to overtake the OAP. RX8 driver doesn't see me at all (it's night time and I've followed them for a minute or two with dipped headlights on, surely he noticed them disappear from his rearview without seeing me pull into a side road) but I see him coming and brake while moving slighty to my right. He keeps on coming and puts me into the offside kerb, wrecking two OZs and a tie or track rod (forgot which). We pull over to discuss (no witnesses) and he's adamant the collision is my fault, obviously, because he's an off duty police officer

Same kind of thing happened when my dad had his Senator, we were on the way up to Kielder to marshall on a rally (can't remember which one), at one point we were going up hill behind a Cavalier in front of which was a Land Rover with a horse box. The Cavalier was way over to the left side of the road and didn't seem to have any interest in overtaking, so dad started overtaking and was fully alongside the Cavalier when it started to pull out, fortunately there was a bit of the verge at the side of the road so we managed to get past both vehicles unscaved.

Hmm luckily the road i was overtaking the lorries on was quite wide also, although i was right up to the edge of the pavement in all the standing water.

I always find people far too confrontational on the road. I also never get how people can suffer from road rage like they do. I can't think of anything that would wind me up anywhere near as much as some people can be from the simplest road misdemeanour!
