Why are some Welsh people naturally olive skinned...

I've heard it said that some Welsh people who appear Mediterranean are descended from survivors of the Spanish Armada. Although I find it a bit implausible as I'd have thought that any Spaniards who'd have got ashore would have been lynched by the locals or militias they came across.

Makes sense actually. The name from my Dad's side of the family is very popular in the Mediterranean (Malta mainly, so I'm told), we have slightly darker skin like you describe, and I'm pretty sure there are quite a few ties to Wales somewhere.

Good question! Always assumed it was the Italian influence...

Joe Calzaghe & Enzo maccarinelli are two mediterranean tonned Welsh men that spring to mind from the boxing fraternity.... The surnames sound Italian to me too (Calzahe = Calzone, Maccrinelli = Pasta) there you go.
