Why arent they being deported?

It's probably that government policy towards illegal immigration was that it was fine, just look at the the USA now Trump is trying enforce immigration laws that have existed all along (just not enforced properly) and the establishment is attacking him for it. The Democrats are even trying to get their supporters to fight against ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement). May doesn't have the balls to do anything that will likely provoke such a backlash.

Exactly this, the Uk is seen as a soft touch, any hint of sending any undesirables back to where they came from brings out hordes of protestors. I was watching 'can't pay we'll take it away' and the guys had to evict a Romanian woman and partner and six kids, they could not speak any English and had somehow managed to pay a rental deposit on a house and then immediately defaulted on paying any rent for several months. via an interpreter the woman was wanting to know why she was being evicted and where was she supposed to go now? back to where you ************* came from should be the answer, not to the local council as she was advised because having the kids would get her emergency housing at taxpayers expense.

yawn, same **** different day..
the men and women who get voted in don't care, it will be old news soon and folk will be outraged with something else :p

They have been caught and rightfully should serve their punishments then deport them.

Yes the system isn’t 110% right all the time and illegal people do get away with it but for how long before the authorities catch up with them?? They ie illegals can’t travel anywhere other than within the country, can’t really do anything because they don’t have any papers to prove they are who they are.

This thread is classic GD - there's nothing in the news report to suggest they won't be deported after serving their sentence and posters are speculating about lawyers or Corbyn somehow getting them off.

Yup.

IIRC the normal thing is they are kept in Prison here for the sentence, then may even stay in prison after their sentence until they are deported (if there is any delay).

They haven't been found guilty of a crime in Jamaica. A UK fort found them guilty, this is where they will be imprisoned. Once their sentences are over they will likely be deported

The UK has a close relationship with Jamaica. There is no reason they couldn't accept two of their citizens back to serve their time over there.

Except that's not how it works, normally for a prisoner to serve a sentence in another country it requires special arrangements.

This isn't like asking your neighbour if you can borrow some sugar, or if they'd mind accepting a parcel whilst you're out.

Actually we are implementing this sort of arrangement with Jamaica albeit for people serving longer sentences - makes sense as they can be close to family who might want to visit etc... and they're already deported upon release.

They committed a crime and are getting punished for it. Or do you want them to walk free?

No, we need a different sort of punishment perhaps.

There is something utterly insane about...

Oh look, these two have ripped off the taxpayer by 120,000. Lets punish them by having the taxpayer spend another 250,000 looking after them for the next three years.

How about 100 lashes, stripped of all assets, and sent back to Jamaca with nothing to their names other than a paper disposable onesie.

Our councils are a joke, they're so inept and PC now that this is just the tip of the iceberg of fraud and corruption. I mean, you put someone up in a decent hotel and they complain about the food. Do you A. Tell them to deal with it, or B. Give them £11,000 (£40 a DAY) to go and stuff their faces with?

The 51-year-old also spent more than £11,000 on a pre-paid credit card she was given when she complained about the hotel's food.

Well if they were genuine, the council had just ruined their lives and potentially their neighbours and friends just been killed. The council would be lucky to get away with only paying 11k. The lawsuits that will come eventually will be millions, question simply is now who is at fault.

The idea that you think the council should treat them like people on benefits says a lot about you.

I'm sorry but that says nothing about me. Why should anyone, especially those relying on government support be given pre paid credit cards with limits that allow them to go and eat every meal for almost a year at restaurants?

The council didn't just get away with 11k though did they? There was also their hotel bill (with included food) and then on top of all that the lawsuits that will no doubt follow.

I don't understand your thinking? Should there be no limit to government generosity?

Lets also not forget these people shouldn't even be here in the first place, on top of lying about living in those flats.

They fact you think they should be treated like we owe them anything says a lot about you.

Most councils are rubbish in general. They are badly run and waste money all over the place.

More to the point, why were people, not just these two illegal parasites, given insane amounts of free money at the tax-payers expense and why did nobody bother to question it?

Csuse its a massive sacred cow you can't say anything about them.

There's a student whos been one hotel for over a year and he didn't even live there.

Instead of tilling him to bugger off they offered him a studio apartment instead of his current house share, but he refuses as he says he needs a one bed room flat
