Why Bread!

I heard it started in the motor forum. Some guy had a car and people wanted him to prove it was his. So he put bread on it.

;)

It was all fun and games...

... until a certain someone stalked someone on OCUK to having a pic taken of them and bread whilst at work :o

he used Fab ice lollies :p

That was a fun thread :)

And that means my guess about bread was way off. I thought it was derived in a cockney-rhyming-slang way because people say "take it with a loaf of bread" sounded like "take it with a pinch of salt". And then there's the phrase "to pinch a loaf". And then I made the connection.

Now I feel like a tit.

Much like nokinidea's picture, I saw this idea first used years ago - back in '02 maybe - on 419eater.com and just assumed it was from there.

I believe it was this one. You'll be reading for a while though until it gets really hilarious :)

Edit: I think the actual pics that the OcUK member took were taken down about half an hour after they were put up. I never saw 'em but it was still funny to read

it wasn't the detective stuff that made it brilliant, it's just some of the awesome comments/jokes people made :D

There used to be a chap in Cambridge, who named himself 'Barmy Art', who used to walk around with varoius items strapped to the top of his head using a tie. Bread was a common choice. Nice bloke, managed to have a chat with him once...
