Why buy a Rover?

I'd go heads up against your car in my Evo? if your local you should come down to mine with cymatty and agw and show me what a sorted rover can do.
Which Evo? You have 2 don't you ?

Wasn't that a red Evo FQ340 you chased down and passed, at Donny Simon :D
Yeah with boost turned up, passenger said about 370hp

Evo 8 FQ300, its putting 360bhp down at the wheels. Depending on your rig it would make a nice 1/4 - im confident in saying ill eat you in the corners though what gearbox are running?

That doesn't sound very standard
I have a 600ti box, shorter ratios which makes it quicker. In the dry you might be surprised

360 is at the fly sorry!! i was thinking of my 9 which has 500 at the wheels - thats well sorted though.

Dry or wet i dont care mate, ive seen plenty of standard looking and underdog cars beat me at santa pod! Im happy to race you over a 1/4 mile as it could be close, im confident in saying round a track will be a different story though.

Lol - I have no chance on a 1/4mile against a 4wd.

should have come to Donington in it. I like the sound of the 9

Not a fan of Donny really, i always enjoy other tracks more :)

The 9 had its engine pulled out the day i got it, completly rebuilt by my brother with parts he machined himself (everything from cams to seals). An FQ400 turbo and HKS electronics means more boost etc, carbon fibre clutch and hand built rally gear box all mean its very rapid. Went on the rollers at a shade over 500bhp at the wheels. Got nitrous sprays to keep everything cool too.

Its only done 800 or so miles since it was built so were not sure how reliable its gunna be, if it holds up then were gunna knock the power up a bit more :)

Means i have to eat beans on toast and work all hours for the near future though :D

edit - full spec here..

Isn't this a Rover?

More like a failed Maserati that MG bought the plans for ;)

Sorry not jumping on the Rover knocking bandwagon but the SV jobbie was originally something like Maserati Mustango or Mastavanga or something equally odd sounding. Ferrari bought Maserati and I guess didn't want the Mangusta (thats the one!!) so sold it to the brits.

had 3 rovers and have no complaints about any of them
first was a mk2 214(did 35k in 2 years in it without any problems at all,and i gave it a lot of stick)only sold it to get the GTI.
2nd was a 216gti(Honda twincam engine)that was a lovely car to drive
3rd is the car i have now, rover 600 diesel(tuning box has up the power from 105 to 135bhp with 250mn torque) for a big car it goes very well, done 16k in the past 8months and its been great.
s reg/full leather/full electric pack/abs/aircon etc/alloys cost me £900

Donny is very technical, suits some people better than other I guess. I prefer it over silverstone and Combe. Haven't tried any others.

What does your brother do? Sounds like a clever guy :D

He sells insurance for CIS :D But likes to play with engines in his spare time, mostly Cosworth YB turbo and Ford CVH turbo but has recently dabbled in jap crap :D

Castle Combe is an ace track, i prefered it on a bike tho, Oulton Park is my fave though, has a bit of everything on it.
