Why Can't I Get Surround Working

Remote desktop and Citrix don't work well in it for starters! It all depends what you do on our PC as to the extent you'll be irritated by not running extended desktop.

Performance can hit the floor if you want to run 1920*1080 without disabling Surround...

Anyway it doesn't matter because this isn't my thread to winge about the quirky bits of Surround. I have just accepted it and will moan about it accordingly :D.

Still haven't had any luck but after looking at this it could be my DVI cables that are causing the problem. They are all dual link but different brands. I'll pick up two new dual links to put on my secondary monitors and see if that fixes the problem.

You beat me to it,
Personally I would use all the same leads to prevent any possible
Issues as they seem to cause most of the problems in surround .

As all your monitors are shown in the control panel I doubt it is driver related.
Good luck sorting it.
 
I haven't checked in awhile but when I first played with it ages back:

Out of SLI mode you can mix and match monitors in extended mode over 1 or even 2 GPUs
In SLI mode even in 2D surround you need 3 identical specification displays in the group

Might have changed since as I've not played with it in a long time.
 
I had terrible trouble setting up surround (especially since i was used to the simplicity of eyefinity)

In the end it turned out to be needing my 'different' monitor plugged into the 'correct' dvi socket and reseating of the SLI bridge (which was working fine but after a reboot a message flashed up that it was missing)

Success at long last. Three identical cables, re seated SLI bridge as recommended. Unplugged all but one monitor, turned on, turned off, plugged in next and repeated for the third monitor. And also back on the beta drivers, which aren't perfect as Nvidia control panel does seem to crash from time to time. But got there in the end. Thanks for everyones help.
