I have one email sitting in my outbox that refuses to send.

I can send and receive emails to all other addresses. I'm using Windows live mail, the application. Not the web based with my own company email address.

Here is the error I receive.

The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for 'Email@personsemailaddress', please contact your email service provider.

Subject 'Netbook'
Server Error: 451
Server Response: 451 Temporary local problem - please try later
Server: 'mail.companyname.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC79
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No

if its your company address are you trying to use your companys mail server through your own home internet connection?

lot of isps block the mail server port for mail servers other than their own

edit jsut noticed you said it was a googlemail address which there shouldnt be any real problem with

I have no other way of contacting the person. It's my own company, I work from home. It was an enquiry email via the websites contact form. Only have the email address.

No Attachments at all. However I do have an image in my signatures. I will remove this.

Can't think why it wont send. No other email addresses are an issue at all.

Edit* Removing signature image made no difference.

right im a little confused

you mention your companys email address and google mail, have you got a [email protected] address using your own domain name email server?

or

is your company web address simply using a gmail account?

Sorry, I should have made it clearer. I'm trying to send an email to a Googlemail address. My email uses it's own domain name and and email servers. Nothing to do with my ISP or Google, Yahoo or MSN.

Cheers.

ah in that case im thinking it may be either you havent entered your domains email server settings correctly or your isp blocks outgoing mail not sent via its own email server

what isp are you with?

That would make it not let him send email anywhere, hmmm did you ask/look on the servers support page? Do you have a gmail or something send it through that & explain who you are.

Exactly. I can send and receive email from absolutely everyone else. Only this one is the exception. All settings are correct of course.

Looks like sending it via a Gmail is the only option.

depends on the account, clearly likes of gmail hotmail etc would be fine self hosted email servers or his own domains email would be different would be ive had to use my isps own mail server in the past to route emails
