I setup a webcam which is just viewing my garden atm for security etc. & when I try view the cam on the webpage its being broadcast on, it sais offline, but anyone else can view it.

I'm using 'WebcamXP' on Vista64 with Java installed & allowing the port it uses to pass through the router (is this also a hacking hazard?).

Hope my questions aren't too noobish as I'm new to this webcam stuff.
Any help would be welcome, thanks. :)

woow, used 'localhost' instead of my ip & its showing the webcam ok over LAN not Internet & its using the WebcamXB interface on the webpage instead of my webpage, which is correct as its a local host, so I guess it wont work over the Internet now

Correction, I think its working over the Internet as well as its show 2 viewers now, geuss someone has gone onto the page too, thanks for the test

lol
I understand the fascination with webcams now, like how interesting it would be to see a live video of a street in another country.
My cam gets really exciting about every 5 minutes as a car or even a bus may drive past :D
I guess if someone else has the program WebcamXP then they could leave chat messages etc.

Why didn't you mention the busses earlier :D I would have given Coronation Street a miss.

In all seriousness it's working fine.
