Why did E3 show nothing to forward pc gaming

What's a PC?

I'm addicted to WoW, that's al lthe PC gaming I need.

/me runs

a pc is the only way to play competitively gaming with a control against a mouse there is no comparison how could it be dead

For FPS yes...for games like Fifa and other such "consoley" type games...no :)

There is a competetive "professional gaming" for console and PC gamers alike. Just happens that one group are a bunch of noobs and one group are pro's, who is who, I'll let you decide :D

E3 isn't over yet. Maybe you'll be surprised.

Besides, there have been quite a few announcements regarding PC games so far.

Splinter Cell Conviction
Ruse
Ghostbusters
Star Wars: TOR
Monkey Island (remake and new game)
Left For Dead 2
Assassin's Creed 2

etc. I'm sure I've forgotten a number of major releases.

Splinter Cell Conviction - More of the same, fancy graphics
Left For Dead 2 - More of the same, fancy graphics
Assassin's Creed 2 - More of the same, fancy graphics

I understand what the OP is saying, there really isn't anything "NEW" and fresh to get your teeth into. Something that breaks the mould and gives PC gaming a new direction for games.

How can you say that after making a certain thread:eek:;)

Much like the film industry, most avenues have been explored, and lazy companies are quite happy making shameless follow ups to previously popular games, knowing that people will probably buy them still. EA are particularly bad for this with reference to their sports games.

E3 is for console's really.

This is why most of those 360 exclusives like Alan Wake & Splinter Cell were shown as 360 only but if you look at the official forums for those games they say both are still 100% coming to PC.

Exclusive announcements @ E3=Console Exclusive.

Capcom have a strong upcoming PC line-up (all multiplatform ports) and they are @ E3 today. RE5 is not ready to be shown (its going to come with an Nvidia 3D glasses mode as well as enhanced gfx) but the following will be shown:

Dark Void (very pretty sci-fi shooter)

Street Fighter4

Dead Rising2

Lost Planet2

Then you have the following all confirmed for PC:

Fallout 3 DLC x2
Mass Effect 2
Monkey Island1 SE
Monkey Island 5 Episodes
Assassins Creed2

And many more but they are just not highlighting this much which is more down to there being no PC platform holder who stands to gain from all of this. ATI + Nvidia stand to gain the most so should have sponsored a joint press conference @ E3 showcasing all the reasons why you should buy their gfx card products.

The biggest reason why E3 doesnt seem to show much for PC is that there is no master company over the platform like Sony, Mircosoft & Nintendo, correct me if im wrong but most of all the major reveals were first shown in the big threes major presentations.

The impression that I have is that E3 is mostly about showing which platform is going to 'be the best' that year, so a lot of the money and attention is going towards attracting people to the three consoles. The big multi platform names like COD & L4D are going to be plastering 'coming to xbox 360' etc all over their booths and presentationbecausese I'm sure thaMicrosoftft or whatever will be paying a little bit of money to get that attention and the PC side of the product wonreceiveve as much hype, at the same time this means that for PC exclusives only bigger companies like Bioware/Lucas Arts with The Old Republic will be there full throttle, while other smaller companies will benefit more from other publicity routes.

Still, you'd have thought that Microsoft would have said something with regards to PC gaming (what with Windows 7 imminent, DX11 etc). Games are after all one of the main reasons people use Windows over Linux, for example.

Not if it takes anything away from the 360

That doesn't exist on any gaming platform at the moment and with the global economic situation it's not likely to change any time soon.

90% of new games are multi platform and all fit into existing gaming genres. In my opinion gaming has been around too long for anything completely new to ever be released.

Some might argue the Wii is a gaming revolution but it's just collection of existing games and gaming genres with a different controller.

Did you miss MS, Sony and Nintendo all showing off pretty radical new control systems? Ok Nintendo's is just what the Wii should have been in the first place but the other two look pretty interesting.
