Why did E3 show nothing to forward pc gaming

Plenty of PC games were shown, the platform just doesnt have anyone spending retarded ammounts of cash trying to outdo rival companies. Who knows, maybe 1 day the PCGA will get a conference :).

So elaborate for me.

I just don't think gaming is the main reason. Possibly on this forum but we're a very narrow percentage of the population and are hardly representative of the population as a whole. I would bet most family computers are running Windows, not to mention all the businesses, neither of which have chosen it for gaming.

Still, you'd have thought that Microsoft would have said something with regards to PC gaming (what with Windows 7 imminent, DX11 etc). Games are after all one of the main reasons people use Windows over Linux, for example.

i agree 100% and was going to post the same thing

MS really needs to stop treating PC gamers like crap

Yes true, but I didn't say it was the main reason... I said one of the main reasons. I know that if I had no interest in gaming then I'd have made a more concerted effort to try the various Linux variants, but as it stands they just don't cater for what I want (a single operating system that I can use for everything, dual booting is inconvenient and I don't want to be maintaining two installs). There is WINE for some stuff but that isn't exactly ideal (last I read only DX8 could be done with any real proficiency), and Cedega... well, if I pay a subscription for an app to play games, I may aswell just be using Windows.

I'm just surprised that with all the talk of W7 being the 'best O/S for gaming', and what the DX11 feature set can do for future game development, that MS didn't even briefly cover Windows/PC as a gaming format... at one of the biggest gaming events of the year. Personally I think that's an oversight on their behalf, but hey ho.

Linux is not user friendly, it is not as professional as Windows and it doesn't run mainstream software, either games or anything else. That is the main reason why most people don't and never will use it as their main OS.

Actually I have been thinking that today, if you add

TrackIR

Voice Commands

computer game vest

All to 1 pc game, it might actually be quite cool

Splinter Cell Conviction - More of the same, fancy graphics
Left For Dead 2 - More of the same, fancy graphics
Assassin's Creed 2 - More of the same, fancy graphics

I understand what the OP is saying, there really isn't anything "NEW" and fresh to get your teeth into. Something that breaks the mould and gives PC gaming a new direction for games.

your post: more of the same whining.

Anyway, How about all the games that will come on pc? Platform exclusive games are under extinction. learn to appreciate what we get.

MS are definately ramping up for something big on the PC as they just posted 19 job listings for Games For Windows in the US.
http://www.microsoft-entertainment-jobs.com/go/games-for-windows-jobs/44365/

Then in a few months they launch a new version of Games For Windows LIVE which will now have an optional Cloud server setting to save all GFWL games config & save data. This new version of GFWL will also allow you unlimited installs of the games registered with them the only restriction is that you can only be connected once to LIVE per game with your gamertag. There will also be no DRM (disc check is optional at publishers discretion but unlikely to be used) at all just a serial number you register on LIVE against your gamertag. All they are enforcing is 1 online session per gamertag & that the game has a valid serial number. You can also remove this if you sell the game so unlike Steam you can sell the game if you do not like it. You must remove your serial number first though but that will be easy to do within LIVE whilst your ingame none of this revoke licence hassle like other services.

PC Publishers/Developers should enjoy less piracy as future games will have this new MS 0 day piracy solution which means the game has to be activated via the serial number 1 time only and only valid serial numbers are allowed on the servers.

All the pirates will obviously hate it so they better learn to spoof MS GFWL servers (unlikely) or buy the games in future like everyone else does!

Where have they said this ? The only thing ive read so far is that the live access key will become tied to your account rather than your computer. Havent seen anything saying you can remove the key from the account. So, Source ? :).

yeah because the xbox360 had so many good exclusives this year so far... oh wait! it had none. talk about dead platform.

are you serious?

whoa easy  i perfer PC to consles fps are easier with a mouse ;) as are RTS so i don't think PC gaming is dead i think gaming is dead as they can't really make anything that is worth it :| sepf for L4D and a few other games.

Love my PC, 360, PS3 and other consoles. I do agree that there appears to have been a lack of major PC announcements so far with the PC as the lead development platform, or sole platform (e.g. no HL2: Episode 3). Numerous conversions where companies are building for the 360/PS3 and porting a version to PC, which is just the way of the world now.
