No I don't because my PC didn't cost anywhere near £1500 oddly enough. :confused:

yeah console gaming is great. it can be really expensive though too. tbh if you just get a 360 controller converter for your pc, clone your desktop to your tv - you got the same response. and a much bigger gaming library.

I dont know about the people here but I tend to have 1 game for each genre I like but thats the best of them. its cheaper that way than having 40 or so games that you never play.
 
The only games I do play on my PC are RTS's like AoE 2 & 3, and C&C 3.

I think I've had more fun and laughs on the 360 then I ever did with the PC. It is a great machine to use. I just wish we had even more quality games now because I plan to give up 360 gaming in 2008 after GTA arrives. I just haven't the time :/

Won't that mean you will have to wait until the Xbox 360 cease production to get any games since until then there is not "best" from any genre as there could always be a "best" game round the corner.

And is that also mean you have no PC games at all?

They have the potential to be money pits if you dont upgrade carefully IMO. The reason I went to consoles in the first place was I simply couldnt afford a £1k PC at the time, and a console seemed the sensible option.

I buy them, then play them for a few weeks until im sick and then trade them in a few weeks later. Due to working in retail I get most of my games for ~£30 on release then I get about £20-22 back on trade in a few weeks later.

Aye that I do agree with. Without reasonably planning you can easily waste money.

I don't think I've ever spent more than £500-600 on a full system though to be honest, and considering the amount of fun I have gaming on my machines (and how much I use them for other stuff) I definitely think I get my money's worth. It's all down to the individual and how much they intend to spend on it and use it.

PC's are money pits due to the bad programing of games that happens all too often. But as gaming goes most games lend themselves better to the pc platform like fps games which are far better with keyboard and mouse.

Driving games are better on console although pretty much all are arcade like and dont have good physics, this is where ps2 adapters come in for the pc or even a quality steering wheel if you feel flush :D Games like GT Legends,Live for Speed and GTR2 are in there element. What lacks in graphics is made up in more realism to the likes of the Need For Speed series and such like. Even the lates Grand Turismo 5 has the same basic flaws of the original, slowing down on other cars into turns and no crash damage how lame is that?

Consoles are good if you aint played anything for the past year or two, other than that all i see are re-hashes of the same genre done allover again. This may be why i play old stuff as its the same as new stuff tbh :D
 
Conoles aren't exactly custom hardware, forget the consoles of the past. A Xbox 360 is a PC with a variant of windows on it. What was that console where each game cost several hundred pounds Neo Neu 3D or something?
 
been seriously considering buying a 360 elite recently, and maybe a nice big TV to go with it when I get around to claiming back my tax (still on emergency tax for a part time student job)

To be fair though, someone mentioned that a new PC doesn't last nearly as long as a new console - I find this ridiculous as you can still play every PC game from the last 20 years on it! and there are still games like Far Cry from 3 or 4 years ago that'll look better on a PC than most console games if you don't spend a lot on a fancy TV to go with it. Nevermind things like Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper etc. which are still great fun to play, even if they don't look amazing.

A question about the elite: will I be able to use a HDMI-DVI cable with a non-HDCP monitor to play games at 1680x1050?
 
Will never sack pc gaming for a console myself, consoles have way too few and way too poor startegy games, my fafourite genre.

Shooting with the 360 pad is also nothing for me, I hated GoW on the 360 and love it on my pc.

Each to his own though.
Spend more time browsing tbh than gaming, hence a pc is more important.

I priced up a gaming rig a few weeks ago that came to just over a grand. The last time I spent that much on my pc I was looking to upgrade again in 12 months as it was struggling with the latest games. I know someone who recently spent over 1k on a pc and it was struggling with Crysis on day one. I'm not exagerating in the slightest.

My 360 has lasted 2 years so far and will likely last another 2. For £300 that's an absolute bargain - especially as it's easy enough to spend that much on a gfx card alone. The hardware just doesn't last long enough and there are far too few exclusives. Fortunately, the only pc game I want to play runs on my old rig just fine. Gotta love the Source engine.

But in 6months time the 360 wont be old hardware and require a new Graphics card and more ram to run its games smoothly...

Also its an excuse to buy a new TV :D

Because with an Xbox360 you can play it on a PC monitor and when people price up PC costs they generally don't add in the costs of PC monitors. If you're pricing up a PS3 you need to mention HDTV, not with Xbox360 or Wii though. Nor do you need an Elite... But of course you want to be seen making the price of an Xbox360 appear a lot more than it actually is, don't you?
 
After I got rid of my PS2 a couple of years ago I built myself a gaming pc. I just got a 360 and have realised that console gaming is easier/better for me! I won't ever go back to pc gaming again.
