Why did they kill Dave?

Millions of worms are probably killed every day from shovels and being trod on but lets all get up in arms over this one.

Social media in 2016 is retarded.

The death of one worm is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic.

The folks at the Natural History Museum are now just hoping his brother Jim doesn't come for them. :D

It ain't easy being a Dave

I get this all the time

"Wow! Good job I brought a magnifying glass!"

;)

But yeah, such a shame to just kill something like that. It reminds me of all the stories about rare and thought to be extinct species that were shot when seen, to prove they still existed.

It was funny seeing the BBC news presenters reaction when they found out hey killed it. The lady was really taken back

Ha, was watching it live too. At the start they genuinely thought it had just died while being transported. When they asked how he died and the woman said they put him down you could almost hear the collective facepalms when this jovial story became a potential social media disaster!

Does seem a bit pointless killing the creature to preserve it. Can't cost that much to keep an earthworm in captivity!

funny, if an advanced alien species came along and had to use massively high levels of gamma radiation to see anything, they'd kill millions just looking at us.

we'd judge them for that but its ok for us eh?

tbf as others have said, this is one notable death among millions, and its not like we're actively exterminating them en mass so we should be all right

Because **** nature.
- Human race

Yeah I agree sad how humans seem to enjoy screwing up the planet, use all the fuels, pollute the area with fracking, killing animals for bone powders/Ivory, the list goes on. For everyone saying it's just a worm it's just this one day we might get invaded by another race 100x bigger in size than us and we might have the IQ the equivalent of a worm too them, how would you feel then when they screw us for being stupid?

I was more concerned it was the cable tv channel. :p

All they do is repeat the same old stuff, if you've got dementia then it might be a good watch.
