Why did you buy a dash cam?

And have someone hit you from behind. I've noticed yellow means "go faster" for a lot of people. Easier to go through them sometimes.

Which is why I said "if it is safe to do so"...... Besides do you go around slamming on the brakes when the lights change or even if already red??

It's called anticipation. If the light is green, the only thing it's going to change to is red i.e. you should be anticipating the need to stop/slow down.

My brother and father both have had incidents that where outside of their control and have led to a loss in no-claims through no fault of their own but lying scumbags.. and a dashcam would have 100% shown their innocence.

However, I personally have a bit of a stigma with them, mainly that the majority of people I know with them are actually accident magnets that have a general lack of awareness and push every situation aggressively, as per the youtube videos posted above.

I actually think they are a good idea, but just choose not to at the moment, however I can see that there may be a time I consider it, especially as I've had a few near misses that I like to think I was able to avoid through being aware.
I do feel it's naive of me to think that every situation can be within my control especially since I have plenty of anecdotal evidence to counter that belief.

Funny to see the forums view on this. Especially when it seems like it is now a totally different place to the forum that will rightfully recomend the best performing tyres you can afford
Guilty..
I know, when I buy premium tyres, I perceive they may reduce the risk of losing control, yet never put myself in those situations.. And I think dashcam users are trying to reduce the risk of being losing a no-fault claim, yet are very unlikely to be in one.. But at least the cost of a dashcam pales in to insignificance compare to the price premium I've paid on some tyres.

And this is why I don't really want one because they can also turn a lot of users into idiots looking for trouble.

I bought one but have not got round to hardwiring it in yet. I bought one because one night I was driving along in the dark and there was an oncoming car (could be a corsa, hard to tell) and it swerved into the middle of the road, not sure if on purpose, drunk or just stupid but almost forced me off the road.
If there was a crash would the police be more likely to trust the word of someone in a corsa or a modified supra?

If you slow in plenty of time and you're doing a legal and appropriate speed this isn't an issue. Again, this is basic driving.

The assumption isn't on you driving its on the driver behind. On my morning commute there 4 sets of lights. One leads directly onto one leading onto a major slip road to a roundabout. If you miss it, another lane feeds in and you can be left waiting a long time.

Hence its fairly common for people to assume that you are going to go through them. Frankly I expect 99% of people to go through yellow lights naturally (ie not accelerating madly to make it) as there's always a delay before red and then the other lights turning

My mate just gotten one after some kid ran out in front of him.
Good hes got Wilwood BBK on rx8 so kid just bumped off front end with no serious injury.

So what? Impatience is often the cause of accidents, that's no excuse. If you're driving safely and properly you can slow down in plenty of time so that nobody rear ends you.

Do you get off on being sanctimonious?

I'm not (and I'm sure 99.99% of people would agree) going to slow down when the lights are green. When the lights are yellow the issue is with the person behind me. I'll go through most yellow lights as I know it's Sade ahead but behind leaves you exposed to any jokers that follow.

I've scraped through yellows before and have 3+ people follow me.

Of course all the blame goes on you, "yellow" light or not, you didn't leave enough gap between you and the car in front.
If you are going to blame someone for stopping abruptly at a set of changing lights I think it's time to re-evaluate your driving style.
