Why do all mice on the market suck right now?

Not even being dramatic here.

Having ordered 10 mice from the river of various top brands and lesser known ones, why is it no manufacturer seems to have their head screwed on.

Every mouse seems to suffer from one of the following.

1) Requires install of bloatware to manage lighting. If it was a matter of load it once and then it remembers your setting, fine, but most seem to be running at a background service. WTF. Hell id rather turn the RGB off all together with a mechanical switch on the mouse in that case.

2) Middle mouse buttons that require a hammer to click. Razer seem the worst on this. Others not far behind. Why not set the force to something comfortable for sustained use.

3) Cables coming out at weird places. A steelseries gripe. With detachable cables that run nearly perfectly at the base of the mouse glides.

4) INSANELY loud clicks. Oh my this has really gotten me annoyed, usually I dont notice with headphones but when other people in the household come into the room to wonder why theres so much noise from... a mouse. WTF. Now someone has pointed it out ive noticed it on a lot of them how they have some insane loud and high pitched clicks. Compared to mice from yesteryear with soft switches.

5) Crap glides with sharp edges. These just get snagged on anything except a perfect new or flat mousemat.

6) Side mouse buttons that are so far forward they might as well not exist.

7) DPI buttons that stick up so high they are uncomfortable.

Strangely enough I found a £10 cheap tat chinese mouse that actually has most of these issues sorted, the problem being the mouldings from the mouse base are CRAP, rub and squeek. But all of the above issues? Fine.

Can some decent manufacturer sort their act out please.

I feel your pain on number 1.

I was going to order a G502 or a G Pro and didn't because it'll just mean another piece of software sitting in my system tray.

I'll probably just get another Deathadder because Synapse already on there controlling my case lighting.

I feel your pain - I like a nice simple mouse like the Zowie FK series with a reliable, predictable sensor input, well built and with minimal software and that is getting harder and harder to find.

So many mice whether basic office mice or gaming ones are utter trash now :( probably in misguided attempts to distinguish themselves from the competition they've gone all style over substance with 3rd rate software.

I certainly understand your points, thankfully I don't experience them all.
  1. Absolutely! Utter crap software. I have saved the older version of Logitech's software because it's less bloated.
  2. I don't use the middle mouse button.
  3. Not really noticed.
  4. Yep! Though doesn't bother me too much.
  5. Not really noticed, but I don't use a mousemat.
  6. Absolutely! I have two on my mice (work and home) and I just use the one that I can reach without moving my hand off the mouse! Stupid design!
  7. Don't notice this.
Ref: Logitech Pro (Wired) and Logitech G305 (Wireless).

Currently testing a steelseries rival 710. Point 3. Point 7. And the weird blocky angular section at the back. Meaning if I want to hold the mouse higher up so I dont have the weird ass shark fin DPI button annoying my middle finger, I get an uncomfortable angle in my palm instead. Like who designed this rubbish for real?

Steelseries sensei. Actually almost perfect apart from how they managed to screw the mouse scroll wheel up in 1 direction, scrolling down fine, but scrolling up has some weird mechanical noise. Oh and the bloatware for both.

Either way, both going back.

Still using an MS Intellimouse Optical from ten years ago. Had two of them but one broke, if this one dies on me, I don't know what I'll do.

Absolutely agree on the middle mouse button, the logitech b100 (a cheapo mouse to be fair) requires a fair bit of force to press to the point where i simply couldnt use the middle button when using it without turning my hand into some kind of twisted claw to get leverage. Awful stuff, hate modern day Microsoft.

▷ Glorious PC Gaming Race Model D USB RGB Optic… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

I have one so biased you might say but it's seriously good.
1. I wouldn't know, I don't bother with that. I think I set it to pulse red then stopped it from running on startup. With it in my hand I never see the colours anyway.
2. Needs a firm click so you don't press it while scrolling but nothing to hard to do. I play Apex and Ping is middle mouse click and you ping a lot in that game.
3. Dead centre at the front. Raised slightly above the lower level so doesn't snag either.
4. Quiet as a mouse. :)D) with no loud clicks at all. in fact I can't even hear it
5. Glides have rounded edges and you can even add more that come in the box.
6. Side buttons sit directly above my natural position for my thumb so easily reachable. I use the 'back' button in Discord for push to talk, no issues doing so and shooting/aiming
7. DPI switch is on the top but it sits between your fingers and while slightly raised I've never touched or felt it.

The model D is a slightly bigger mouse for manly hands. If you have smaller hands then there's a D-, O and an O- for smaller handed people.

I have the Glorious Model O wireless and doesn't have most of the issues you mention. The software was just load, turn off pointless RGD, forget. Much better than that garbage Logitech software.
I came from a Zowie that had no software at all though.

Buttons on the Glorious are all in the right place for me. I can hear the click of the switches but I don't think it's any louder than any other mouse I've had.

It's probably the most comfortable mouse I've ever owned.

why is it no manufacturer seems to have their head screwed on.
For same reason as in many other PC parts:
Product decisions are no longer done by any tech wise persons, but by marketroids.

As for noise Logitech G502 has impressively quiet clicks.

Vaxee, Zowie and Logitech (assuming you don't get double clicking switches). Razer if you don't mind optical switches.

Endgame Gear XM1R is a good mouse too.

Really I think mice have never been better, I have an Xtryfy M4 (no software whatsoever either all RGB and settings done on the mouse itself) and never had anything better, there's also mice similar to this, the Glourious ones for ex. I'm sure they're good also. I came from an all-time classic which I'd had for over 10 years (MX518) and has great as it was, it's nowhere near in the same class as the mouse I have now, it must have been twice as heavy!

I've had a Logitech G600 MMO mouse for about 2 months and it's great, very simple to set up using the software.

So razer lancehead tournament edition turned up today.

Almost perfect, great feel, great weight, the clicks are good. However for some reason around the edges theyve put some non-permeable plastic on the sides, and it just becomes slippery after a few minutes of use.

Like the rest of the mouse in in a lovely plastic and doesnt have this issue, but razer have just gone and screwed up an otherwise perfect mouse with this weird plastic.

WTF.

So stick something on to it?

The g pro wireless has on-board memory. I installed the Logitech software to edit the settings and then got it saved onto the mouse then deleted the program. No need to keep the Logitech software.
