Why do people do that ?

i play crysis at 1920x1200 and only get 30-50 fps :( with everything half on medium and half on high :(
thats with an overclocked ultra

I'm exactly the same. There's always one aspect of my rig that I want to fix. Something that I feel could work better if only I spent more money.

But mostly, I just love having a reason to clear space on my desk, open up my computer case, and monkey around inside it. :D

rather think about crysis on v high personally than throwing money in a black hole :p

/scuttles off to avoid turning thread into another Africa debate

Inazuma is most likely (or obviously) joking. :o

But spending money on hardware (or any retail item) is hardly a bad thing. Tax money comes out of it, which goes towards the NHS/Labour MP's pockets.

For me it's about seeing that jerky game running smooth (or smoother at least) for the first time. Plus I definitely get a buzz out of it all, from the moment I order something, to when it arrives, to fitting it, then testing it. However I'm not going to buy something for the sake of it, and I'll usually avoid top end stuff since it's often poor value.

i love the smell of new hardware :)

Opening a nice big box of computer hardware is a nice feeling

Deffo, it's ace isn't it... I physically get excited when I know I've got something due for delivery that day... when I built my new machine 4 weeks ago, man, just seeing the shiny heatspreaders on the OCZ ram gave me a lazy one ;):)

Yeah, upgrading is ace, complete waste of money and you end up spending 50% of your time overlcocking and benching instead of doing what you built it to do... play games, however, that's part of the fun...;)

Cheers
Pug

I try to upgrade only when necessary. I have a big screen monitor so getting the best video card I can afford is always on the agenda unless the improvements are miniscule.

When i can play Crysis at 1920x1200 with V.high settings with maybe some AA. Ill be happy...........not :)

Next is RAID0 SSD with Nvidia's new card comming soon
