Why do people put images in word documents to send them via email?

...because people are idiots and/or don't understand that their email editor is likely Word anyway and they're more comfortable with doing it their way

Having worked an IT support job, I feel your pain.

A lot of people don't seem to understand that they need an internet connection to download their emails.

Because they don't know how to:

1) Alt+Print screen
2) Start --> Run --> mspaint
3) CTRL+V
4) Save.

See it all the time here, 6mb word documents with tiny screenshots because eejits have print screened their dual display machine and pasted it into a portrait document.

Sigh.

Why do people do any of the ridiculous things they do with computers? Education (and/or willingness to bother learning!) is sadly lacking.

It gives you a pre warning of there IT ability's. But annoying as it is its actually easier to zoom in on a word document than an email!

Very complicated process if you're on windows 7!

Windows key - sn...[enter] - Snipping tool opens. Use, copy, paste, send!

You don't even need to go into Paint :p just press Print Screen/Alt + Print Screen and paste it directly into an E-mail. Can't stand it when they bury them in Word documents even when you send them instructions.

E: I do sometimes use the snipping tool if I want to get something specific

Worst I've got is an "expert" who insists on opening Word to use as a file explorer (Word -> Open -> look for file -> Select document....damn Word doesn't open pdf/exe/...)....right-click->Open)
Problem is, she infects others with this feature and I keep on being asked why Word won't let them edit their picture (or whatever)

I've shown them what to use many many times, just I'm not there all the time so they ask the office "expert".

Why do you need to save it in Paint instead of just pasting it straight into the E-mail?

I sometimes do this if i'm using a particular mailing system at work as it doesn't let you paste images directly into the message.

Figures its the easier way for me to send screenshots to people.

Somewhat convoluted way of capturing a screenshot. You can see why those not familiar with computers would struggle.

As the younger generation gets older it should become less of an issue. Computers aren't intuitive for the older generation. However with the rise of tablets (read: iPad) things are getting easier for the oldsters.

As for pictures in Word docs. Not seen that for a while.
