Why do people que, instead of using both lanes..

aye down 'ere people don't seem to have heard of it. so hardly anyone seems to do it from my experience.

then you get the odd person who does, then the guilt builds up more the further he travels along the road, realises that he is looking a complete falice so stops, indicates and waits for someone in the original lane to let em in! holding up just about everyone.

gotta love it :D

My personal fave is when drving along the M4, the Highways Agency 4x4s trundle along at 60, and anyone who sees them slows down to 61mph whilst they overtake, then when a bit further on continue at original speed!!

In some light situations it's hard to tell the difference between a Womble van and the Police ones, especially since they write it like: Highways Agency TRAFFIC OFFICER, but there's no excuse once you're close enough to read the writing.

And long may that continue! Just been to the RGH in Newport and saved an awful lot of time by not queueing in the other lane when there's an empty bus lane that's only active 7-10, 3:30-6:30.

I do exactly the same in bus lanes around Newport all the time, the ones by the hospital save the most time.

That's the very lane I was in :)

It's great, I love traffic features like that, same as hatched areas with a broken line, it's like having a dedicated "person who actually reads the highway code" lane

When I see a roadworks lane restriction sign I think I want to be in the correct lane in good time, I should already be in the left lane if I am not overtaking. Should I then pull out if there is a queue? If I am in the right lane then it makes sense to carry one past the queue till the traffic is meant to merge, it is the same as joining a motorway. You know where the line stops and tells you to merge in, and then you pick your gap in the traffic.
No you are correct - if you are already in the left hand lane you should not pull out to overtake and then merge in. You should also be 'in the correct lane in good time', although I guess the definition of 'good time' could be debateable :p.

That's not quite the purpose of that area now is it? :p
