Why do so many monitors these days have issues?

Review sample spec monitors seem to be another problem. Most review sreens don't represent the true quality of what you receive as the customer. I seen an Acer on display at a big show and the IQ was perfect but the retail models are nothing close.

Yeah, the cherry picking of review models is abundantly clear. Very, very few reviews ever even mention BLB or dead pixels, it's like the reviewers never encounter them... I'd put a lot more faith in them if they were bought off-the-shelf rather than supplied by the manufacturer :/

Cherry picking for reviewers isn't something that just happens with monitors either.

How many reviews have mentioned an unstable factory OC on a graphics card for example? Another very common issue :/

Ah, "popular channels/streamers/review sites"... Most of these are basically PR tools for manufacturers and completely pointless to gauge any kind of measures subject to variance, e.g. backlight uniformity. Still useful for non-variance measures, e.g. response times and delta V (just not delta V uniformity).
Also I estimate that more than half of Amazon reviews nowadays are these "I was asked for an honest review in exchange for a free/discounted sample". Yes, sure, even if reviews are *honest* you bet they make sure these "review batches" get best of the best.

People who give out positive reviews get selected more often so these 2 bob reviewers sell their soul in exchange for free kit.

Unfortunately it's rife. Especially on YouTube. These "reviewers" don't so much review a product but rather spew out marketing blurb. Very little in the way of criticism. Quite sad really. YouTube is like the modern day gold rush where every billy nob face thinks they can make it spewing out rubbish. Judging by their view counts it seems to be profitable.

Just went through six monitors to get a good one.

LG 29UB67 Ultrawide: has the dreaded IPS glow and coil whine when the brightness was at a certain level.

I've had a real nightmare and should have just kept my trusty BENQ XL2420G which was perfect.

I'm not going to upgrade to some time now.

Did you have that strange feature I heard of on video review on YT where LG monitors power down if the screen shows "too much" black... Reviewer said it switches off several times during black scenes in a horror movie!!!!!>!>!>
