Why do the BBC keep switching coverage between BBC1 and BBC2? Is it some stupid broadcast rules to do with the amount of time something can be shown on a certain channel or something?

Annoying me a little too, I went from 1 to 2 to red button in about 30 minutes. I think its that BBC1 stays with the GB team and as someone else competes it gets handed down the channels.

I don't know why they don't just keep it all on one channel and put all of the other stuff on the other instead of flip flopping around constantly.

The news doesnt move for anything - wouldnt be surprised if its in the Charter or just an established convention that all main channels follow - ultimately thats pretty much their primary purpose (C4/C5 maybe not).

ps3ud0

How could this possibly be an annoyance?

Because you have to push a button once obviously!

I can't believe anyone is doing anything other than red button (under normal circumstances)!

Yesterday I watched the British guy get gold in shooting, then chose to watch canoeing and saw GB had a guaranteed gold and then watched the 2nd GB pair secure silver. Felt quite proud of GB in that short space of time.

Yeah I remember thinking this during Wimbledon. I think it's because they have to have the news on BBC1, but they also have this weird hang-up about more popular programmes being on BBC2, so they switch back after. Wish I knew why.
