why do they keep talking Rooney and egypt?

The only way Rooney is going to beat CR's record of 42 goals in a season is to get a hatful against Egypt (and hopefully Wolves)

Not important at all in any respect - and even given the above I would still rest him, but he definitely has a shout at beating the 42 goal target (given a good CL run also)

You asked the supermarket girl out yet?

I would like to see a crouch defoe partnership, see how they get on for England, they play together at spurs...

ha... well shes going out with someone so its a no go:/

crouch is great for england. he should definately be ahead of people like heskey in the pecking order for england.

what? he has some great goals, usually jiumping sidekick volleys or backheels etc hes dangerous with his size but also with his quick feet too and he can finish thats more than you can say for most of englands strikers!

Crouch is not great for anybody, so ordinary it hurts

We don't have Shearer anymore :p We got Rooney who actually looks like he might have a goal in him this season. Aside from him we have zero worldclass forwards. So, it's the best of a "bad" bunch.

Crouch for me has an eye for goal and is a physical presence. He would get my nod ahead of anyone else and I would bench DeFoe and have him come on if we need a quicj goal.

I'd pick Zamora, Agbonlahor, Defoe and probably even Walcott as CF instead of Crouch. Everytime I watch him I can't help but feel what a shame it is that he's an international footballer for England

Owen too (ahead of Crouch) at least Owen actually plays like a goal scorer instead of some pole who hovers around and sometimes win a header.

I really don't rate Crouch / Heskey, but I do think Heskey is decent at holding up the ball, it's just a shame he can't do anything else.

Because everyone wants to see if he can carry his form into the England setup.

Why not let all the first team players rest?

For utd yes, for England not so much. On form he's the best striker we have at the moment but we still need to make that work with the rest of the squad.

Oh, and I'm going to the game and I want to see some goals :p

He's been the most in form England player for over a year now. 10 goals from the last 12 games. It could be argued he showed this form for England before Man Utd. Once Capello has a nailed on strike partner for him, he'll be even better.

Ronaldo's 42 goal season was just for us, the 42 figure didn't include international goals. Rooney would have to score quite a few in the remaining games to even match Ronaldo's 42 goal season nevermind beat it. Ronaldo scored 46 times that season for club and country. :)

ok fair enough :)

I think you will find its just over one goal a game on average (allowing for Milan 2nd leg and two more games in the CL)

Given some of the teams we have in the run in, he could get deuce's in some games

Its not likely maybe, but its certainly possible given his current form

And how better than to test if a #2 striker can play well with Rooney than by, err, playing Rooney?

Well by playing Rooney, we only have a chance to try out one striker, maybe two with a sub.

By leaving Rooney out, and ringing the changes, we can give four strikers a half each.

I can't understand the dislike of Crouch either - when he was at 'Pool he used to play quite well I thought.

well seems like i was proven correct... rooney aggrivates injury - missed wolves match and is doubtful for the champions league match with milan.

yea im really glad that rooney played in a pointless friendly now, has capello done his old club a favour by making him play given that he knew he was carrying an injury - on an unfit pitch?

for the reasons on page 1...because rooney isnt going to show anything we dont already know... he didnt...and because he was carrying an injury..

he might have been echnically fit, but that doesnt mean he was playing with no risk of aggrivating it...because he aggrivated it playing.
