Why do transits rust so much?

I've been looking around, and it seems any transit older than a few years is rusted to hell! Especially around the arches...

Do ford not bother galvanizing them or something? Or is it down to the abuse of notorious white van man?

Well, I was thinking of getting an old banger van for moving the odd thing around, and to use for camping and things, so occasional use...

Found this beast on e-bay, R plate, and they said it has so much rust it was maked as spares/repairs even tho it drives ok and has an MOT!

I guess I was just a little surprised as it's over 10 years newer than my car, yet my car has very little rust.

I think I may go for something a little less rusty... It would probably be less hassle in the long run!
