Just a simple question, why do I need to get a new graphics card to play directx 11 games, why can't all graphics cards get Direct x11? I know i'll have to buy one for dx11 but why? :)

The GPU doesn't support it, as in, the API instructions don't work on it, im guessing because the GPU cannot understand the instruction set, becuase its not been programmed into it?

Because when it came out, DX11 didn't existed so the API is not programmed in the GPU.

Your card only support DX10.1 as it was 4 years ago when it came out.

Ahh, thanks! Also I've heard if I buy a gpu with the gcn architecture I will get directx 12 when it comes out, is this true?

Current gen cards will run DX12, but they may not have every feature available which is understandable. Not sure if there's anything specific about what that is yet, could be too early to tell.

I'd recommend a 270 over either of those, the lack of a second power appears to have little effect on the overclocking potential (if you're not benching that is).

What PSU do you have if you are upgrading from a 210? Just want to make sure it's up to the task :)

Full system spec would be good if you want any advice on upgrade paths etc. :)

I have a 780w psu, 4gb ddr3 ram and an Fx-4130
Quick update:
I found a GTX 275 in my Dad's old computer, using that at the moment but still want a DX11 graphics card!
