Why does COD Have Its Own Rules?

If you want to play the game how you want to, why doesn't that apply to the server admins who pay for the servers and all the people that want to play on them with those rules?

Some people get more fun out of it by trying to make it more realistic. It's perfectly fine if you don't like that, I just don't see the point in complaining when you are not forced to play on those servers, go elsewhere.

This, exactly!

I always thought that one of the best things about playing FPS games on PC is that you can easily join a server that caters to how you like to play the game, be it vanilla, no noobtubes, sniper only or even crouch only. If I wanted to be forced to play the exact same game in the exact same way as everyone else, I'd go and play on a console.

lol, I don't understand the attitude. In Search and destroy one team is defending the bomb. If you are killed by "campers" defending the bomb, then they are doing their job. Conversely, if you are killed by "campers" in the attacking team you clearly aren't doing your job, which is to defend the bomb..? The only team that should be "camping" is the defending team because that's their objective - to defend the bomb! Get it yet?

In short, if you're calling someone a camper, you're doing something wrong and you clearly don't understand the game.

Edit: oh what a waste of a rant, he's suspended :p:D

It's people like him that will straight away complain the first time they get killed by a camper (or some other tactic they don't like) and rage hard, which I admit will cause me to do it more and more :p

What's funnier is people saying "You don't see real soldiers jumping about when they are shot at" :p

If anybody shoots at me I will jump as high & as far as I can. :D

you dont have time to jump or bunny hop out of the way in real life do you, because the bullets hit you before you hear them, even at close range ..... you just die, or collapse to the ground with a wound

The one thing I remember from Call of Duty 1 was a term called "clipping". It was one of the main reasons for people getting kicked from servers.

It allowed you to shoot from around cover without really exposing yourself. I am guessing they called it "clipping" as only your head would pop round a corner and your gun through a wall, but you could still shoot freely. In first person, it looked like you had done nothing wrong, but in third person you could really see how it was flawed.

A few other things I remember were rifle only servers, but they disallowed all other weapons anyway, so you couldn't really get kicked for using the wrong stuff.

Oh and an fps of 125 (and a few other set fps numbers) would let you jump higher. Strafe jumping, ladder jumping, wall sprinting. All were mostly accepted but sometimes banned.
You could ladder jump to a window on the map Stalingrad and from the inside, the walls had no textures so you pretty much had a wall hack. You'd always get kicked for using that one lol.

Like a few have said, if you don't like the rules you can go elsewhere. If it is a popular server, people obviously enjoy the rules :)

people who want more realism, and in real life you don't see special forces jumping around everywhere, and certainly not around corners. As for the weapon limitations, some weapons are overpowered and so are not allowed. If the devs balanced everything perfectly it wouldn't be an issue, but they didn't. noob tube for example, insta kill at long range with a decent size AE. In real life it is powerful but is limited heavily on ammo supply
so you want realism, yet you don't wan't people to use what you consider overpowered weapons, yeah they do that in the military all the time.

Captain: "Private what do you think you are doing with that grenade launcher"
Private: "I was going to kill the enemy with it sir"
Captain: "NO NO NO, YOU ORRIBLE LITTLE MAN, this is war use this dental floss instead & Private, no jumping there's a good lad."

Makes perfect sense to me as the removal of certain weapons/addition of certain rules can change the game mechanic completely. What's wrong with people doing that?
