I'm setting myself up to be shot back down again but why does everyone dislike blunty?

Is it simply a case always having to **** somebody off and he is the current choice and everyone else jumps on the bandwagon?

People feel they should. Quite frankly its embarassing - believe it or not, this time last year he was being talked up and praised by the same fashionistas who are slamming him down now.

Same with The Darkness - I remember metallers thinking these guys were the second coming, 2 top 10 hits later and its reduced to a "joke band" when looking at exactly the same material.

Pathetic!

It's just fashionable to slate him to be honest. If he was that bad would he be selling albums by the truckload?

Some opinions on this in here:

Personally I think he's an alright chap - he takes the criticism with great civility and brings a certain amount of joy to grandmothers and teenagers alike (oi, nowt dirty!).

It's just a shame he sings like a girl and has abominably trite lyrics. I heard Three Wise Men in a shop the other day and actually thought it was OK, then I listened to the lyrics and heard the familiar rhyming couplets and repeated lines. Can't stand it.

I don't hate him but I wouldn't buy anything by him either.
He can sing and write a good catchy tune but I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.

Nor was James Blunt 'manufactured', he was actually first 'found' at SXSW last year or the year before iirc. He's done very well, so fair play to him for that, but I don't like his voice much or his music. And I've never seen so much bandwagon jumping as on the 'It's cool to hate James Blunt, I want to kill him in the face' bandwagon.

All James Blunt has is his music.

I can't really argue with that, but unfortunately I'd rate his music along the same lines as Garth Brooks and Celine Dion. They've sold millions of albums, sell out gigs everyewhere and have millions of dedicated fans, I'd still call them rubbish no matter how much musical talent they have. I think that the main bone of contention is that the people that don't like these types of artists are at a loss as to why they are quite so popular, which infuriates them all the more.

Never liked him, gets on my nerves.

And, I think the Pussycat Dolls were number one at some point... so yeah the amount they sell means nowt.
