why does everyone here have 2 monitors?

No one is admitting it's so you can read your cheats while gaming -_-

I wish Windows would have better multi-monitor support. For instance I want certain apps to open in certain windows fullscreen. Better wallpaper support. etc

Hehe, hush now our secret is out.

i have 2 at work and 3 at home.

3 at home mainly for eye-infinity (surround) gaming.

but also handy for having a game on the centre, OCUK forum on the left and msn/fb on the right.

i would be lost without 2 at work as a software dev, code in debug on one screen, application running on the other.

I have two at work (only 17 :() colleague has 4! ANd i have 2 24" at home (want more also :D.

When you get used to them they are fantastic, have a movie in one while browsing etc, really nice :) and productive too!

Can someone aware me as to why two monitors are needed?

I work from home so I have several monitors in use at a time but when I am not working it's still handy for me as I watch a lot of sports streams and I can have several on at a time. (sometimes up to 8 matches)
Also handy to use 1 just for IRC (or other chat clients)

Once you have gone multi display there is no going back. 1 just doesnt cut it unless you just do 1 thing at a time.

Oh and having two monitors is great for Dreamweaver, all the code etc on one monitor leaving a full screen for the rest...:)

any chance you could send me a message in trust about where you watch those sports streams? ;)

Interesting..

I have two 24" at work, and 2 x 19" at home and Im seriously considering moving back to one monitor at home, mainly because I have never tried gaming on a large 27" screen. I like the multi-tasking factor of two screens, but having to alt tab out of the game to do anything kinda makes it a bit pointless..

1 for gaming 1 with chat programs on it

or 1 with photoshop and 1 with 3ds max

or 1 with UDK main window 1 with UDK content manager

or 1 with 3ds max main window 1 with 3ds max uv editor

I could go on...

I would like to have two for multitasking, e.g watching a film/playing a game in one, and using the Internet on the other.

Quick question, if you are using two monitors, do they have to be run at the same resolution?

Just recently went to 1 23" 1080 monitor and 1 17" 1024 monitor and I'm loving it already itunes, msn and tweet deck in one firefox in the other or watching a movie and doing other stuff. Some change from being stuck with the single 17".

40inch tv for me; Things like iplayer and youtube are 19 inchs before i flick to full screen. So using windows 7 split screen i can comfortably see two 19 inch videos next to each other or surf the web while watching a video on the other half of the tv. I didnt find using dual monitors particularly usefull while gaming as the games would either minimise or the mouse would be fixed to 1 screen so more annoying than usefull.

I bought a Dell 2209WA awhile ago and relagated a Samsung 2032BW to secondary monitor duties. The downside is that I notice the flaws of a TN panel more than I did before, the upside is that I can have apps. or video (Delicate Sound Of Thunder at the moment) on the Samsung while I play, surf or whatever on the Dell.
I've never thought of doing what John24 does with the F1 feeds, but from now on I guess thats another use for me.
