Why does my Firestrike score suck? (Running Quadfire)

Kaap actually already told me that the 3770k should not bottleneck these cards in another thread.

However my friend with 2 x 290s is beating me with a haswell CPU running a lower clock speed.

I am a little concerned by the low 3DMark score?

Spec:

OCZ Gold 1000w
2 X Asus 7990
OCZ SSD 120
Team Group Elite 1600mhz RAM (10,10,10,24) - this ram was not expensive but I read RAM does nothing for performance?
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
Windows 8.1
Latest Stable AMD Drivers

Here is a 3DMark result with a similar setup scoring a lot higher http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1044974

I guess he has a better mobo (will that matter much?).

This is what a 7990 quad fire setup scores overclocked, your scores both look there or thereabouts to me chaps, unless im missing something.

7990x2@1200/1700

3. 19763. GFX Score 34586. 7990. Water cooled cooled. Physics Score 16440 CPU 3930K @ 4.75 Water cooled - ToxicTBag - Link

This was pulled from Kaap's excellent firestrike extreme thread.

13610 I score the other score is 19763.

The graphics scores are closer...

Its your combined score, that's dragging your overall score downwards loads. Your GPU score is fine however (sorta :D) so the problem lies with your CPU.

Go back to stock and try again. The CPU score isn't too far off where it should be mind (physics score)

Go back to stock on my CPU?

It's stable at this clock.

Ok so it turns out the combined test hates 4 quadfire, I get double the frames with CF or with it off completely...

If only there was a way to force crossfire, trifire or disabled for this portion of the benchmark.

I get like 4604 now on combined.

I have just run this on my GTX 690s with a big overclock for them 1210/1800 (boosting to 1254)

If you check the graphics score I am still nearly 4000 behind your 7990s.

If you really want to check the graphics power of your cards, you should give the Heaven 4 bench a go. This will really show what your cards can do and is more relevant to games than some of the other benches.

Edit just checked and my combined score goes down when I run 4 GPUs too, when I run a couple of 290Xs my combined score is well over 8000

Cheers Kaapstad,

I fixed it, now I'm getting 19173: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1232960

Bumping the memory helps a lot, but I can't get the voltage unlocked for the RAM - I did it on my 7970's but I can't remember how.

FYI Afterburner was causing my issues - when it was running i got 10fps less on combined!!!??

Closed it ran 3DMark and performance increased (any overclocking was done via CCC). Weird huh ?
